That sounds like a very focussed dog!
My old rottweiler used to be a seriously protective guard - but once you were in the house, he wouldn't spend 2 minutes with you!

He used to just lie in front of the door in the hallway hoping for intruders to "make his day" :)
If you called him in, he'd look at you, look around and then leave as if to say "what did you call me for, I'm busy guarding the door" :)


On 2 occasions I remember, he came into the front room and just rested his head on my knee.
Both times we took him straight to the vet - it was gastro enteritis one time and something else serious the other time.
I can't remember the detail as it was a long time ago now.

We have a boerboel pup coming to us in the New Year and it will be interesting to see how we get on with a more affectionate beast :)
