Boerboel so clingy

Not sure how many BB owner are here on the board but maybe we can make a group or something.
Ok so to the post. Jade my 7.5 month BB is like velcro when I am home. I have told others that these dogs like to be close but wow she is like a growth on my leg. She sleeps beside my bed until I fall asleep and if she has room she will get on the bed and sleep with her head on my chest or neck. During the day when i am not at work she will sit or lay next to me no matter where I am even when at the hobby bench she will lay with a paw on my foot. Sometimes whil I watch TV she will sit next to me and do what seems like petting to me. She paws at my are or leg and pulls her paw back towards herself, then she will reach back out and do it again. I have seen her do this to on of my Rott/Chows, Dozer her best bud, she paws/claws his shoulder or neck. It's really pretty odd. Do all the mastiffs have this type of clingyness?

I think its a mastiff thing in general, although I will admit it can be annoying sometimes, but its one of the reasons I fell in love with the breed in the first place. I have two German mastiffs and both are like your girl. Where ever I am that's where they are, sitting behind me while on the PC, watching me in the kitchen, rooms. Both dogs can be pushy and try to move my hand with their nose to pet them.

What there is such thing as privacy?
God forbid you try to lock them out of the bathroom, is some form of torture :p
We call it CVS Corso Velcro Syndrome
I have to admit now if I don't have 2 dogs attached to me I worry :)

Oh yeah there is no such thing as alone time when you have a mastiff. Try doing planks with a Mastiff trying to help . On the upside while waiting outside Subway the other day I had an intoxicated (or something) panhandler lookng for change. There was no way in hell he was getting near me. One dog got in front of me and one beside and NO ONE was comming between them and the mom. Their devotion may be anoying when you are trying to do something around them, but part of their charm and definately part of doing their job.

I dont know whether I am lucky or not, Tibetan Mastiffs are just not that clingy...well at least not mine. They are known for being independant and aloof and its true, they are! I wish my girl was a little bit clingy but she isnt. Maybe its her upbringing, maybe her nature or maybe both but I sure do miss cuddles sometimes. Still my Akita makes up for both of them in the cuddle department.

Me too. Titan is not that clingy. He's pretty much a loner. If I call him over for some TLC, he will come in sit in front of me and lay his head on my lap. Those are good moments...

I consider it an honour if she lays in the same room as us, lol. Saying that she does love her belly rubs and being groomed and what I call 'sexy leg'. If you tell her sexy leg when she is laying down she will lift it up so you can rub the inside of her thigh. ;)

Duchess is clingy to a certain extent. At home she's much more relaxed so she will often go off to find a place to sleep. If she hears me walking around, she will check to see what I'm doing. If I'm walking towards the door or bathroom she has to be right there. The dogs always follow me into the bathroom & if I close the door all the way where they can't get in, Duchess whines & Daisy scratches the crap out of the door trying to push it open.

Outside of home Duchess is very clingy. She walks basically on top of my feet, hides behind me, sits on me then leans up against me. Yesterday at our play date I had to keep pushing her off of me bc she almost pushed me down a couple times.

Any room I go in and close the door, when I open the door Jade will be right there sitting intently "like why did you do that, I am supposed to be guarding you at all times?" It's not so bad most times but when I have a lady friend over it can be a problem.

Roly is naturally pretty clingy but I have encouraged it too because I like my dog to follow me from room to room, that's why I got a Corso for the CVS. He found one of our other dog's bones that he could barely hold in his mouth and instead of going to one of the dog beds and chewing on it he carried it from room to room following me where ever I went. I was surprised I totally thought the bone would trump me but it didn't lol. But yeah he is a super clinger and I wouldn't have him any other way.

Bruno is half and half I guess. He's 5 months old but he will follow me from room to room when I'm doing stuff but will also sleep in another room, usually it is by my feet though. Sometimes when I go upstairs to use the bathroom (he will whine at the bottom till I come back)

Ruger is the king of clingy....If I move, he moves....No matter what! It can be a pain when I am trying to get something done....Walk into the laundry room, throw towel in basket, wait for Ruger to get all of himself in behind me, wait some more for him to be able to turn his big ass around and get back out the door. LMAO The truth is for the most part I love it but it does have its moments. I type this while sitting at work and he is laying around my desk chair (with a paw on my foot so that he will be sure to wake up if I move) and I have to ask permission before I can move. If we are somewhere near people, he must be between me and others and is always touching me. He is very guardy and velcro like ........

When we try for privacy in the bathroom for even a minute our EM hits the doorknob with her nose and repeats if we don't open! Lol then she will sing if that still doesn't work!! They are so funny!

Looks like you all have the same dog as I have. Seems pretty much all the heavies are the same in this regards and all the shephards are oposites.
