As far as I'm concerned if you feed your dog anything from Kirkland you are playing Russian Roulette with your dog's life.
Kirkland dog foods are private label Diamond pet foods, made at the same plant, I know because I researched it after we got a dog food recall notice from someone at Costco, but it was too late, my dog had already eaten the whole bag and had been having serious health issues, he began having seizures among other things, multiple vet trips could not find anything wrong with him, even though he was an older dog, but he had been in perfect health until the recall, ultimately he died 8 weeks after the seizures began, and about 4 weeks after we got the recall notice.
The Diamond pet food plant has had this issue a few times already, they have learned nothing from their past mistakes and lousy manufacturing practices because it continues to happen, and the last time it cost my GSD dog his life. Stay away from Kirkland, there's so many other safer and better options.
Personally we feed our new CC pup Legacy Large Breed Puppy and he does really well on that which is what the breeder had him on and recommended, it is a 3 star food on dogfoodanlaysis.com and it's not prohibitively expensive. I would prefer to feed him Fromm Gold Large Breed Puppy since it's ingredients seem better and they test each batch before it's shipped, I think it's a 5 star food but it seems as though his stools get loose when I do so I am not sure if it's the food or the transition to a new food that is affecting him so I'm still experimenting with the Fromm, but both foods have the correct calcium and phosphorus levels for large breed pups, I have read that if the levels of those two ingredients are not correct during the development stage of a large breed pup your dog may develop hip dysplasia or other serious joint issues for life, so I think it is very important to feed a large breed formula that complies with AAFCO standards for large breed pups.
