Bella defends property

So tonight about 30 minutes ago I was out in the mud room having a smoke. Percy my husband lets Bella out... I normally don't allow her out at dusk on her own... I guess she was bugging the crap out of Percy wanting out.....not even 60 seconds later I hear a dog fight!!!!!

So I go running out side....in my pjs and slippers to see Bella huffing and puffing running up and down the property boundary.....So both of us, my husband and I are trying to see what was just fighting with Bella.... we see nothing but a fox up the road..... a couple of our neighbours came walking up the street.... I asked them if they had seen a dog around...they both say yes it was a brown/black dog about 1/2 the size or even smaller then that....They had seen it heading to our property....they said the dog was acting weird... like it was trying to sneak around acting very skidish..... they said h
They have never seen this dog around before and was wondering if it was a drop off or stray....
I'm thinking it was a coyote.... Time to put that trail camera up.

Also an after thought.... not a good idea to run like that after this surgery.... I'm done like dinner ....heading for bed...good night all

Good girl bella, i know the sound you heard from her, it sends a chill through me when the boys do it, you know instant someone or something is in for a tellung off.
Hope your feeling better and fully rested,

Thank Glen, I'm trying to behave and rest.

Yes that was an awful sound....no warning barks......just attacking....
Don't know why I should be worried about Bella, she out weighs most of the dogs around here by at least 80lbs...she has all her shots up to date.....
I guess it's because she's my baby and no matter how big she is I will always protect her like I did when she was 8 weeks old.

And now my husband understands why I always go outside with her at dusk.

Glad everyone is okay. Just FYI for everyone ... even if your dog is up to date on their rabies vaccine, it's sometimes recommended to do a precautionary rabies booster if your dog gets bitten or scratched by certain wild animals, an unknown wild animal, or any animal acting in a suspicious manner. I'm not saying that you need to do this, Shiela, just letting everyone know that it's sometimes a suggested precautionary measure.

Absolutely....If there had been any visible wounds and if I had den just had Bella's shots updated in May you can bet your bottom dollar I would be calling my vet for sure! Not just for fear of rabies.... there's distemper....and others that my vet would know better then me....

As far as the miss spelling of my name....my own mother miss spells it all the time...lol so your all good. ;)

I totally understand even my biggest boy at 63kg and 30 inches is my baby, and hearing my 3 on attack certainly makes me run to there aid, even though i know they are tatally capable of looking after themselves.

Sheila, I'm with Boxergirl on this one, call the vet and ask whether they want to do a booster because of all the scary possibilities. I'm not sure what the stats are for rabies in S/W Ontario, but I'd rather be safe than sorry. Our dogs are too precious.

I did give Judy, our vet a text asking if we're good....She answered we're all good.
