Being Singled out because of breed! COME ON!!!!

Sounds like your neighbours need a hobby. They clearly have way too much time on their hands. Sorry that you're going through that. It just reinforces why I live in the country without neighbours.

Welcome to the world of large powerful dog ownership. It's a daily battle for many people, not just pit owners. It's one of the reasons we take our dogs out in public almost every weekend; they're excellent breed stewards, & also help to calm the fears of ignorant people when they see the brindle coat. You're probably going to see this stupid fear wherever you go, although not to the extreme you're witnessing now. Good luck; love your dog.

That is awful!!! My lil bro had 2 pit bulls for many yrs.... he lived with me while my oldest girl was little... so many people (including realtives) were always trying to tell me that I needed to get my brother to get rid of those vicious dogs... I always laughed... those 2 dogs were never a problem... they loved ALL my kids, and the only thing they ever wanted for themselves was love...
One aunt was always campaigning to have the dogs destroyed... always talking about the potential hazard they were... and always saying "one day" I was gonna regret having them near my kids and it was gonna be at the expense of my kids lives.... funny thing is... HER precious little ankle biters were the ones with the proven track record of biting kids... ONE THE FACE!!!
Growing up.... I was 7 and my bro was 5... we lived in iowa, and my uncle lived in Georgia... xmas that yr after a visit... my bro and I road back from Georgia on the floorboards because my uncle bred and raised red dobies... and the vet had cropped a tail too short so we got a 6 month old male for a present and he took up the ENTIRE back seat!! I was 19 when he passed.... and I cried like a baby!!! Choco was the best buddy we as kids could have ever asked for!! Looking back, I can't imagine what my parents went through as far as people's opinion of having a doberman around their children....
Good for you for having the means to move and get away from.such close minded people!!!

Thankfully the only negative comments we have come across with adding cinder to our family so far has been how much she is gonna EAT us out of house and home!!

Wow! That is beyond crazy and all I can do is shake my head. What makes me even sadder is that now they are considering putting breed and size restrictions in place thinking that these will keep them "safe." I would be very tempted to start sharing information from impartial sources on dog behavior and the effectiveness of breed banning. MAYBE you MIGHT plant seeds for a few people, but a lot of people will believe what they want to believe - regardless of the evidence sitting politely underneath their noses. My neighbors were terrified that I was going to bring home a pitbull when I went looking to adopt my second dog and even went so far as to approve the dog breeds they would approve of. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! I don't recall asking for their input. Lucky for them I didn't bring home a pittie - instead I brought home a Mastiff. Blah ha ha ha ha ha!!!!! He was terrifying to them right up until there were break ins in my neighborhood and then they were thrilled to have him next door (not that he would protect their property, but whatever).

All your comments have been so supportive and wonderful. We are staying firm and holding our ground on continuing with our daily routine until we move. We walk Drago n our path, he gets a suntan on our deck and he continues to swim in the lake in our complex. Screw these closed minded, ignorant people. My dog is not going to be confined to our condo to appease anyone! We have submitted an offer for a wonderful farm home in north port florida. Keeping our fingers crosses the sellers accecpt the offer. Its 50 acres with lots of lemon and orange trees. Plenty of room for Drago to run and play without any bitchy, snobby, idiotic people judging our gentle giant!

I will keep all my fingers crossed that you get that beautiful dream house in Florida. And please do sell your current home to a meth addict. The neighbors deserve it. :)

Update...today our offer for our dream home has been accepted! 50 acres of palm trees, oranges and lemons will be heavon! We cannot wait for Drago to have the property all to himself to run, play and flourish! Our pool is huge and with Drago loving the water we cannot wait to watch him swim. Its a salt water pool so i need to do a little research for safety reasons. We now have a 5000 square foot home to call our own. Now i need to get my butt under way and search for a job lol. Anyway, we are in our glories and cant wait to get out of this snobby resort and away from these retarded people!

Nah, I thought just here in NZ we have this kind of problems... :( I don't use to tell Jack's breed unless someone knows it. All of them are "mastiffs", end of discussion. And poor Jack has never met a stranger: he's such a social butterfly, he loves ALL people! And because he's a male and black, everyone is afraid of him and fond of Luna, who is NOT social. It's sad for him and very stressful for her to have strangers jumping straight in her face "oh she's sooo cute!" No, she's not! The black one is "cute" - pet that one, for God's sake....
