I was vaugely aware that the ASPCA had a poison control hotline for pets, but hadn't ever paid much attention. I was reminded of it today (my animals are all fine, nothing happened). They do charge for their services, but if you're stuck, and not sure you want to afford an emergency vet visit, and your pet has eaten something possibly toxic its worth the $65 fee: http://www.aspca.org/pet-care/poison-control/ no idea if the number works for those of you in Canada or other countries.
