Am I a Mean doggie daddy

Ok so I'm wondering if I'm considered mean and cruel to my dogs.
Zoey is 3 years old and Abby is 12 weeks old and when they are playing tug of war (or kill the toy)
The obvious choice of winners is Zoey, she drags abby across the floor and hip checks her like she was a hockey player.
I sometimes try to help Abby out by grabbing Zoeys tail and holding her back from completely dominating the pup.
While in the heat of battle Zoey never complains.
If I do it just because she is walking by and I feel like it she just sits down and looks with those eyes that say why are you suck an ass.
So is it mean or just plane good old fun, or ignorant behavior that should be punished with a turd under the covers?

Hi ! Well I am not an expert but honestly i would do the same so she can grow more confident :)...as long as Zoey is ok with that !
Maybe I wouldn't grab Zoeys's tail, I don't know why but I have been told you should never do that

Didnt you post on another thread that the dogs aren't allowed on your bed? If so, then yes.

Does Zoey ever lay on her back while playing and let Abby jump on her? I get down there and roll around with them and have always let my older 90lb doberman get the better of me where i end up on my back but she knows were playing. So in return she does the same with my young Cane Corso and lets her win alittle.

I'm with Kelly... if you don't let your dogs on the bed, then YES, you are a Mean doggie daddy! :)

so... the question is about pulling Zoey's tail?

I wouldn't pull too hard, but I don't see it as a major "meanie" issue.

I guess if you find a turd under the covers, we'll know otherwise.

We do this kind of thing all the time! We aren't sure if we're interfering with some sort of process of domination/submission that has to take place, but sometimes one has a huge advantage and you want to even up the playing field a bit, so to speak.

I don't think it is mean, and as long as neither dog gets overly rambunctious so that you're accidentally injured, it sounds fine to me.

I pull Trixie's tail, not hard, mess with her ears, take her food away, put my hands in her mouth and play with the fur between her pads I do this all so she tolerates my children. I get that same ass look that you do. Lol. Trixie is 15 Wks. Oh and shhhhh but she doesn't get to get on the bed either. I do have a nice blanket for her though next to the bed.

Ya my girls are deprived and abused.
They are only allowed on the den leather couch and on the beds when we invite them.
They are restricted to the den and the back yard during the day and they have to get their water from the faucet because there is no one to open the bottled water for them during the day.
Zoey has to sleep on the cold cold carpet and Abby has to sleep in a crate.
When we have to leave for any period of time they are forced to stay at home with one of my sons friends to babysit.
I did read once once that Cane Corsos that were to be used to hunt badgers had their tails cut at the 8th vertebra instead of the 4th so the hunter would have something to grab to pull the dog out of the badgers den.
I hate to be so mean, but I'm not gonna stop!

I think pulling a dog's tail so they get used to it and know how to react (and not react) to it is a good idea - then, if you ever find yourself around toddlers the pup will be prepared, as I'd bet there will be some tail pulling going on at some point, then.

But faucet water??!?? We're just going to have to notify the AC patrol about you, DDSK!!! LOL.

My CC before had what I call 1/2 tail and I loved it! Prefer it over Trixie's nub. It was so damn string it usually got played with just cause it was there, LOL

I was just asking about this in the other thread. Mine does the "hockey checking" also. Macro lets out a yelp and comes back for more. We are constantly telling my Lab " be nice to the baby" but then he rushes in and bites here so she jumps right in and they go at it. This is the first time my lab has play like this because our first dog was too small (7lbs) for her brute self.

I posted this in a previous post but here they were last week playing around
