Axel is just 14 weeks and is already 48 lbs. do we think he's growing too fast ? His mom is 95lbs and dad is a lean 140 lbs. he is lean and appears healthy. We visited the breeder yesterday and he said that Axels dad was not that big at his age.image.jpg

Axel is very handsome and looks very healthy! I would not worry about his weight unless he starts to become too meaty.

As long as he is a healthy weight and not rolly-Polly then I would not worry. If you are doing all that you can to provide a slow and consistent growth then that is all you can do. Can I ask why you have a prong collar on a puppy that is 14 weeks old?

He takes professional training lesson from a reputable trainer and he recommends them for all dogs, especially large breed during training. I have 3 other dogs who have went to this trainer that are wonderfully behaved. I have not seen any other dogs out, besides people who have trained with him, that have dogs as well behaved as mine. It is all about knowing how to use it! I will be glad to entertain any other questions in regards to the collar :)

Also would like to note that none of my other dogs require a leash or collar any longer. Obviouslt related to local laws they wear them when they're out and about, but they do not NEED them as they are reliable off leash 100% of the time. It is just tool for training just as some people call a "clicker" a tool.

Oh I have no problem using a prong at all, we use them on the dogs in our kennel that warrant their use but putting a prong on a Cane Corso puppy that is that young is not something I agree with. Puppies should be trained using positive methods and then corrects instituted once one is certain they understand what is being asked from them.

No not Deb. I don't ask people to agree and don't ask permission. Thank you for caring but I can guarantee you my puppy understands what is being asked of him! You must be clear and concise with what you want! Axel has really done well! Rest assured I am more than educated on the use! What kind of positive training are we talking about? We do positive training as well really praising him and all but I hope you are not one of the but jobs that thinks you can only use positive training and get the results I do! By that I mean just praise praise praise yet no correction! I love seeing those people out in public with their dogs nearly biting me people as the owner gets dragged along!

I agree BSCC I have never heard of a trainer that would use anything but a flat collar on a young pup.

That's true! It makes no sense to wait until there is a problem to use one though! Avoid the problem from te beginning as as far as scares I'm okay with that I have dogs for me not other people! It is just a temporary tool anyway! My others were out of those collars in no time :)
