ACL Torn

Hi All,

I am new here and enjoying the site very much. I have owned Dogue de Bordueaxs for over 15 years. Our boy Tank was adopted when he was 2.5yrs old, he came with a bunch of suspected problems, HD, inabiltiy to digest food, allergies, to name a few. Well he has done very well with us put on weight no problems digesting- seems he just wanted to be with his people- previous owner did not spend time w/ him and he was crated long periods of time. He has Lyme disease- the first bout with it and after a couple of days on antibiotics he was like new. He was good until a month ago, when he got all the symptomes of Lyme back- started the antibiotics, some improvement but not like last time. Well he just had full set of xrays and his HD is still there but not as bad as we were expecting- good news. Now the bad, he had an old ACL Tear which was never treated, vet's best estimate was when he was pretty young, and looks like he has torn the other ACL recently. I was not expecting that, we have always been careful with him due to the HD, the only thing I can think of is him getting on and off the couch, and sometimes he does run through the house or up the stairs chasing our other dog.

Now for the question- has anyone had a dog this large(145lbs and still on the thin side) go through the ACL surgery? What was the outcome?
Thanks for any responses
