Our puppy kato has been on his new food for a fei weeks. When we got him his stool was loose and with the new food it hasfirmed up but im afraid too much. I believe he is constipated is there something I can add to his food to make his stool better?

He just started to strain when I just took him out today. But this morning a whole movement came out but it was quite hard.

About 2 weeks. He had very loose stool when we got him and it got more and more solid as we fed him innova. I read to put some chicken stock in his food to help do you recommend this?

100% pure pumpkin..I know to make the stool firm you need a 1tbl spoon and to make it soft maybe try 2 tble spoons and see if that works if he still has trouble you might need to take him to a groomer and get his Anal glands cleared out..sometimes dogs rub there butt on the ground to help them...or it could be a blockage..a rock ... a bone... toys ...maybe something you did not see him swallow..I would try the pumpkin first but dont get the pumpkin you make pie with make sure it is 100% pure pumpkin

It's definitely not a bad food but the company has changed some since it was bought out. I prefer grain free and chicken free for pups which Innova isn't. Is he putting on weight? Eating ok? How's his coat? It can almost cause more problems to switch foods too soon after switching from another but it may be something to think about.

He is a good weight but he has dandrif. and I am concerned that most mastiffs cant handle chickenif his stool is not ideal because of the chicken in the food. When would it be safe to change foods? And should I feed the orijen 6fish since there is no chicken? Also thanks for your help

If he's having coat and stool issues I would start with another transition but go extra slowly, more like 5 days per stage. I prefer the orijen 6 fish since theres no chicken but it can be very rich for some dogs.

If you could pick the best food for a cane corso puppy what would it be? I understand each dog varies but in general, I dont know if I could handle the raw

Raws not for everyone and that's perfectly fine! There's lots of options from the orijen to Acana Pacifica which is very similar to the orijen. There's Earthborn holistics which has three formulas that are both chicken free and have the right levels for growing giant pups (Coastal Catch, Meadow Feast and Great Plains feast). There's blue buffalo wilderness salmon or duck. That's just a few that seem to have good results. It's also worth noting that with any transition you probably aren't going to see results overnight. Unless there's a serious problem once you're fully on the new food I like to go thru at least two big bags of a food before considering another switch.
