  • Welcome back!

We decided to spruce things up and fix some things under the hood. If you notice any issues, feel free to contact us as we're sure there are a few things here or there that we might have missed in our upgrade.

A very sad story...

Moose loves cat,
Cat does not love Moose back.
Moose is sad.

We found a little stray kitten today! Moose loves any and all cats/kittens, even though they're not very fond of him. He keeps bringing this lil guy toys to play with and gets smacked away every time lol. He won't stop trying though. Do you guys have cats? How did they get along when you introduced your animals? How do they get along now?

We're not thinking of keeping him as we are planning on adding another puppy around mid year next year. I'm just loving him until I can find a home for him to go to :)

I have 2 cats with absolutely no fear of dogs and 2 that think dogs are beneath them, lol. My cats were teeny, tiny babies when I got them. Dogs were all they knew.

2 of my dogs are great with cats. But Doc is a chaser. As long as they don't run, he just pushes them around with his nose, lol.

Hm, I guess they'll just have to be around each other more. Or until I can find kitten a home!

My cats HATE any dog, including our dog. Only dog they have been interested in was a chihuaha thing, and that was only because they couldn't figure if it was a cat or a dog. They still ambush and refuse to play tag, but it is getting better, I know not to expect them to snuggle but as long as she doesn't: chase them, look at them, walk in their "bubble" or eat their food the cats ignore her.

Those pics are precious!!! You can tell by the way Moose is looking at the cat that he really wants to be friends, haha.

Our cat came with our house. She raised and trained our pups to her liking. She has a don't touch me attitude. Because of that she thinks all dogs are friendly which isn't the case. E have to lock her in her room when we have DogVacay guests.

Update: I've named him Mouse. Every single shelter in my city is full to its max with cats. The Winnipeg Humane Society has lowered its fees for cat adoption to $10 for the rest of December, that's how many they have :( When you think about the amount of adoptable dogs in one place you really have to multiply that number by 3 to get a good idea of how many cats are in shelters. It's insanity, I couldn't believe what some of the workers were telling me. So, he's staying with us for now.

I've really come to know just how amazing Moose is through all of this. I've had him for less than a year and he really is the biggest sweet heart ever. He's so gentle and loving. I know all he wants to do is sit with the kitten and smell it and lick it, and it makes me a little sad that I can't let them do that yet. I'm hoping they'll warm up to each other, it'll make my life so much easier lol. Here's some more kitty pics to keep you satisfied:

I had 1 of my current cats before I got either dog and she tolerates their presence but wants absolutely nothing to do with them. The second cat was 8 months when I adopted her. She pretends to dislike the dogs but I've caught her playing with Kryten's feet and tail.she doesn't want anything to do with Jiggers however. The third cat is the latest addition and was 7 weeks old when I got her but had come from a home that had dogs. She loves Kryten and will put Jiggers in his place when he gets too pushy with her.
Mouse is likely more like Skreea (2nd cat) only younger than she was. Who knows what kind of canine interaction he has already had. Make sure that every interaction they have in the beginning is positive and eventually you may have a cat whose head is occasionally very nasty to pet. (Kryten cleans the ears of the 2 cats who let him get xlose)

I think the "tolerating each other" might be happening. Moose definitely wants something more, but he'll settle for this:

Poor Moose, it is hard to be so misunderstood. But from the kitten's perspective, it would be scary to have something with a mouth that big just sitting there looking at you like you are a scooby snack. Good luck!

Bringing this post back because close to a year later we found ourselves in a very similar situation...

Meet our newest little one: Kokanee. A friend of mine found him crying and cold in a dumpster behind her work and we've decided to take him in. He's about 4 weeks old so we're feeding him a milk supplement out of a syringe for the next 2 weeks. The best part? Moose and Kokanee get along so well. We're always proud and impressed when we see Moose comforting and protecting him. I'll attach a few pics below! We're thinking he's a Siamese mix!
