9 month old limping

So this morning I let Nitro out of his crate and he came out slow and then I noticed he was limping on is right hind leg and holding it up at times. He was fine when I put him in the crate last night, well appeared to be anyways and wasn't limping on it yesterday. All day he's been laying down. He will get up slowly and move from spot to spot but that's about it. He's eating and drinking fine. So having never dealt with something like this before should I be bringing him to the vet or is this something that I can take the wait and see approach? He seems ok otherwise just clearly would rather be laying down and limps when walking. He's a 9 month old CC or CC mix. I did feel around to see if anything was obviously painful to him but he didn't seem to mind me poiking around. Thanks for any help!

I'd give it a day to rest. I have found that when I palpate my dogs to see what hurts, they are generally so stoic I can't tell where the issue is. The vets can "see" their reaction better is what I've found. Often tho, with limping it can be just a pulled muscle. If resting for a day or so doesn't improve I'd head to the vet.

Our first dog did the same thing as a puppy.... being our first puppy, we RAN him to the vet. They even did an x-ray, but found nothing amiss.

Our best guess was that he slept on it funny. It went away in a few days.
We never considered pano (I'd never heard of it... and the vet didn't mention it)

The other thing to consider would be pano (Panosteitis)- Here's a good article on pano: Leerburg | Panosteitis or PANO
It's just a growing pains thing - a change in food (and feeding less) can take care of it in a jiffy (from what I understand).

Thanks! He perked up a bit when the kids got home. He was definitely up and about more. A little while ago he was trying to play but I didn't let him because he was slipping on the floor from limping. He almost fell down the stairs but I luckily had him leashed. Still he seemed to be slowly improving just over the course the the day so hopefully tomorrow will be better and it was just a weird fluke or something like was mentioned.

He seems better today. He doesn't appear to be limping and is full of energy from laying around all day yesterday, but we will take it easy today just in case.
