a Caucasian shepherd and a central asian shepherd (CO and CAO)are both very very independent and stubborn breeds..they are also very ancient breeds (almost pure breeds) dating several thousands of years back and are mainly bred or raised to take their own decisions when guarding and attacking are required. they are used to guard livestock and attack wild animals like wolves ....this instinct is engraved in them , they coexist with people and livestock but do not take orders , they take their own decisions ...
today training such dogs is limited to basic obedience, but it has to be done with extreme firmness and no compromise, however you must avoid using force or violence, you cannot give them the chance to show you that they are stronger than you. they will always try to test their master. aggressive behavior is due mainly because the dog does not have a firm master, the dog feels that he can take decisions when he sees that his master is not strong enough to be the leader. the solution starts with a good trainer that can help you retrain for basic obedience and also train you to regain the dogs confidence and your role as the ultimate master.
8 months old is not too late and it is the most difficult stage when it comes to aggression with these dogs.
you should not allow the dog also to invade your space...there should be a space for the dog only ...the dog is not allowed in your space and should not rule the house. no couches or beds or roaming and sleeping randomly in the house.
3 months of rigorous and firm training you will have a different dog i promise you.
when you meet another dog on the street you should instantly give a command to stay, you should not allow your dog any time to think and make decisions.
