7 Month CANE CORSO CRACKING NOISE COMING FROM HIS REAR

Someone please help...My 7 month Cane Corso puppy has a cracking noise coming from his rear (sounds like a human cracking). I have not taken him to vet for this cause. Is this a normal cracking noise that us humans experience or is this a medical condition that needs to be looked at by a vet.

Thanks for such a quick reply. We were hoping this was common for this breed he does not seem to be in ANY pain what so ever.

I have never heard that noise come from either of mine, or from my mom's who has HD. I would get him checked out.

Thanks Amanda it just started about a week ago and now I am noticing it much more during the past two days. I hope he is okay. My first concern is HD but his bloodlines are pennhip certified...GREAT SCORES! and he is from a reputable breeder. fingers crossed!

Even the best hips on the best dogs from the best breeders sometimes throw not the best pups. I would get that checked ASAP.

Let us know what they say! I am always hyper paranoid when it comes to my dogs health, hopefully it is nothing and just growing issues

Just called the Vet for Reno's Cracking issue. I was told they do not need to see him as long as he is not in any pain, Limping, not walking or running correctly & that this is part of growing for some large breed dogs, after all Reno just turned 7 months last week and weights in at 96lbs. Hoping for the best through his development! Thanks for everyone feedback!

I would talk to another vet. I personally would insist on X-rays to be sure everything is good and growing normally.

Seriously? They didn't even want to check? I have never heard cracking in any of my corsi puppies and I would be getting another opinion.

I am still skeptical about this clicking or cracking noise myself, It sounds exactly like a human cracking a knuckle or a back etc. Its just one crack/click every so often when walking. Ive taking pressure off of the legs and moved the joints myself to see if I can gently make the joint crack and nothing. I have tried to stand by him closely to hear where the noise is coming from and I cannot pinpoint it. He is in what seems like no pain whatsoever he allows me to touch all areas of his rear, he runs in the yard (I dont allow alot of running, dont want to over do it) walks perfectly etc. I should call another Vet your both right.

A second opinion is a good thing. I hope it's nothing to worry about.

I'd probably double-up on the chicken feet for a while, to make sure he's got lots of glucosamine and chondrontin to support bone and joint growth... maybe add in some MSM too. In the past we used the human joint supplements from the local drug store.

Thanks DennasMom I will have to look into the bone support and joint growth supplements. This boy means the world to me I want him to be as healthy as he can be =)

My boy had this... The vet did an orthopedic exam and manipulated his back leg.. He showed pain then... Just like yours Outlaw had no pain , no limping, nothing... Just popping.. I rested him ... No running jumping or stairs... Leashed him outside for 2 months... He now has no noises... Growing pains from what vet said and maybe a slight year of the Cruciate ligament (sp) in his knee... He isn't in any pain now and is doing great! I had three different vets look at him and he was the same age as yours.. He is now 10 months old. I have kept him as lean as possible... He has plenty of time to get bigger so watch his weight..

Thanks CorsoMomma. Reno is 96lbs and is 7months but he eats strictly what the bag calls for if not alittle less. He does not receive exercise besides the typical stroll through the yard when releasing his bowels and light playing in the house. I am hoping for improvement and are going to try and take a natural approach with Fish oil as it is good for Reducing inflammation and baby aspirin as needed until the vet visit. Thank you for the positive feedback.

You don't let him run and play outside? It is good for them to get exercise, just not forced like taking them jogging. A pup should be able to run outside at their discretion, meaning if they are tired they will lay down or stop. You want them to build muscles and strength, that is better for their joints then not. It is the jumping and continuous running you want to avoid. What kind of exercise does he get?

I just saw your other post. It sounds, as you are looking for dosages for baby aspirin that your pup IS in pain, although you say "growing pains", yet here you say he is in no pain. Get him to a vet, popping and cracking sounds from their rear ARE NOT GOOD and in the majority of cases are do to hip dysplasia. That is one of the first signs. Get him to a vet and get X-Rays done BEFORE you start medicating him your self please!
