3 YR old EM food problems?

I have a 3 year old English Mastiff. Ill be honest and say I do not feed him expensive food, but I think I do need to feed him better food maybe. he has been on pedigree large breed for about a yearish, and will go through times where his stool is ok one day but a few days later its very runny. This is happening a lot more recently. been to the vet had stool sample tested. nothing found wrong, gave him some stuff to help stiffen up his stool. everything was fine for a while now its back to very runny watery. thinking maybe I should try a better food.

Try something with out chicken to see if that makes a difference. I recently switched to Diamonds (Manufacturer) Tracker and Supply 4health Salmon and Potato, you may want to check www.dogfoodadvisor.com for ratings etc.

Hope it helps.

If you want to keep the cost down, look for Nature's Domain Salmon at Costco!

I agree with trying a food without chicken, make sure to read all the ingredients, some that claim to be chicken free use poultry fat still. Kryten had a similar problem when he was fed chicken based food. His stool started out firm but steadily got softer until he was leaving cow patties that I had to wash away rather than clean up.

Welcome aboard, tahvens~ I agree, sounds like allergic reaction to the food. It could be the chicken and chicken by products and/or grains. Try the chicken free food first, if the symptoms persist, try chicken and grain free food.

Quality dog foods cost more but it does help with the dog's allergies.

Can you post pics of your pup?
