Hello I am new to this forum and new owner of an 11 week old cane corso. He is only 18 lbs and I'm concerned he is not up to par at his age is he under weight?

Assuming your dog is healthy then don't worry about it. Feed it appropriately. Don't overfeed to try and put weight on. Don't add junk to its food to put weight on either. I use the general rule of thumb as 1 month = 10 lbs. 2 = 20 lbs. 3/30lbs etc. That being said u can't fight genetics.
Have u talked to the breeder? Seen the mom and dad? Seen other litter mates to compare to? All those things can help.

As I am new to owning the breed I was concerned about his growth his dad was 150 lbs and mother was just over 90lbs and I was seeing if others have been at this weight at this age and caught up later.

My boy was 15lbs at just over 8 weeks, probably something like 24lbs at 11 weeks. He's 2yrs now and 105lbs. You can obsess over what everyone else's puppies are at the different ages (I know because I did it), but every single puppy is different and grow at different rates. Don't stress over it as long as the pup is healthy.

I'm pretty sure 150 lbs is out of standard for a Cane Corso. Buying from people who breed out of standard is supporting unethical breeding. Bigger is not better.

Feed him just enough so his last few ribs are visible, but hip bones and spine are not prominent. Lean is better for growing pups.

I wouldn't worry. My EM was only 24 lbs at 11 weeks. His last weigh-in was 200 lbs. A little puppy doesn't automatically mean a small adult. Your boy will get to the size her is supposed to at the pace he is supposed to.

And keep in mind. A well bred CC shouldn't be a monster. 110 lbs. is standard. Feed your dog appropriately and let genetics do the rest. I don't even weigh Solo anymore. I just make sure his conformation is on point. Good tuck in the tummy. Visible ribs. In my opinion it's better to keep any dog lean. Too many overweight/fat dogs. Unlike humans, they don't have a choice.

AKC does not have a standard weight, it simply says proportionate to height so there is interpretation on what is alright to breed. If you are able to see a bit of rib than you should be fine

My 10 week old boy is 18lbs I'm not worried about it I feed him twice a day. His mom is 135lbs at 2 1/2 years old and dad is 110lbs at 16 months at least that's what the breeder told me.

Like the others said, do not worry
If you were in Europe, everybody would say that is perfectly within standard. As Solo and Hiraeth said above, the breed standard for the FCI is 100lbs for females and 110 lbs for male lbs. The FCI is the "F*d*ration Cunologique Internationale", that has 91 members (1 for country), basically all world except Africa, Middle East and North America.
The AKC has a different standard (does not have a standard weight as BlackShadowCaneCorso mentioned).
There are historical reasons for that and all goes back to the 1980´s when the first CC were brough to the US. The biggest animals were picked and - at least in the beginning - size was one of the relevant factors in the breeding programs. That created very big CC.
So when the standard was stabilized by the FCI (CC were recognised on a provisional basis in 1996 and on a definitive basis in 2007) most of the north american cane corsi were out of that standard size. When the AKC recognised the breed in 2010 it opted not to have a size limit in order to include most of the existing north american CC
So, in fact, sizewise the north american CC may be very different from the others.
In my opinion if the FCI and the AKC don´t cooperate harmonizing the standards we may end up with a different breed (as happened with the Akita)

Some typos above and the rejection of accented characters. So.. FCI = Federation Cynologique Internationale

Denna (EM) was a hefty 28lbs at 11 weeks (and still had ribs showing), and topped out at 165lbs, well below her mother's weight of 185lb, and dad's at 200lbs... so, big puppies don't mean big dogs, and vice versa.

Feed your puppy for his current size and activity level, keep him lean (that helps muscles, joints and bones to develop at the same rate - for a stronger, healthier adult dog) - and he'll grow to where he should... in due time. :)

Yea I spoke to the owner he's not a breeder but he does own both dogs. All puppy's was actually around same size, girls was smaller but that's it everything was fine, I think he was under feeding a little thou and the stol was soft. I'm going to watch him for a few days and see if things change. Thx

This was my original post about my pup. I got him at 7 weeks and he was 7 pounds. I was really concerned. But he gained about 2-2.5 lbs per week. He is now right at 7 months old and is 74 lbs. He was smaller than what everyone else's was at 7 weeks. I recall people saying theirs were near 20 lbs. But my pup is doing great I get so many compliments. I had his ears cropped and I'm glad I did.

Like season said 1month=10 lbs and ten lbs per month seems to be a good scale. Although my pup was on point at about 4 months around 40 lbs and continues to gain about 10 lbs per month since then.
