If you know what you own it is not dangerous but you don't take a Fila to Petco to take pictures with Santa. Most people have to put their dogs up when company visits.
I have a pic of one of my older Filas with the tree and chair from the pics with Santa, LOL my friend owned the feed store and I went in the back door at closing time. I had to be in the pic, ewwww, so he wouldn't eat the photographer. he still growled the whole time, but the pic turned out nice of him.If you know what you own it is not dangerous but you don't take a Fila to Petco to take pictures with Santa. hahaha, I am positive that is what he was thinking. the Santa was peeking thru the curtain that was up and said no worry to have to tell him twice to stay away, heheheBut mom Santa's are yummy!!!! lol
you know I am cruel like that,You never let them have any fun.
Wow, and you're an example of someone who owns this breed? I hope not all Fila owners are like that. You sound cold hearted, rude, and plain arrogant. I believe certain dogs should be protection dogs, no doubt. However, if the dog is not stable enough to determine a threat, that is a problem. A lack of socializing or obedience. Sorry I was trying to keep it civil and learn more but that ignorance if that last post is something you'd hear from folks who raise junk yard and fighting dogs.
The Fila looks and sounds like an absolutely incredible dog! But to condone it biting anything and anyone is irresponsible.

Why is it acceptable in this breed to be so aggressive? (Not being derogatory, just curious). Seems some folks are almost proud at how mean their dogs are. A dog that can't interact safely with others outside the family and distinguish threat from non threat doesn't seem ideal.

Yes and that is great! Glad he is knowledgable, however his way of sharing that is a bit rough. I was genuinely interested in this breed just because they are so different. Anyway, not going to get much info here I don't think. Moving along, have a good one everyone!

Wednesday nights and I will leave the key under the mat :razzberry: come on in!! the girls need a little excitement bwahhhSo what nights are you gone?
they were bred to be how they are. I could understand the confusion if we were attempting to make them something they are not. those of us that have the Fila, love and protect them to the same extent they love and protect us. where have you read that the Filas cannot distinguish treat from a non threat? they can and do, they just will also use their own judgment as to what is truly a threat or not.Why is it acceptable in this breed to be so aggressive?
