Wrong On So Many Levels!

A Bullmastiff is NOT a Presa Canario, get it right. Sad statistics if they're true, but I don't think anyone has taken the time to consider the siutations (bullying kids, abused dogs, etc).

That certainly appears to be from someone angling for BSL and not caring about little things like facts. Using press releases as a way of determining dog breed? We all know the press is never wrong. So stupid.

...283 fatalities due to dog bites... and we outlaw breeds responsible for 62% of those (if you believe the article, which I don't).

How many fatalities due to guns, again??

Which items gets more press, attention and thought for a solution??

"Guns don't kill people, people kill people"... but dogs of certain breeds kill people, irregardless of the person on the other end of the leash??

Something seems off to me, here.

Owning Mastiffs is as much about being an ambassador of the breeds as it is about the companionship. Socialization is sooo important. Everywhere I go with my dogs, (EM/Anatolian Shepard mix, and my bullmastiff), people want to know what kind of dogs they are. They ask me to pet them, they want to have conversations about large dogs, and usually it's to do about some horror story. I spend a few minutes to introduce my dogs, an show how well disciplined they are.

It's almost like when I have a friend who is completely anti-gun. The fist thing I try to do is take them shooting. The next thing I know, they want to buy one of my firearms. It's the same with large dogs. These animals are big, powerful, beautiful, and almost assure the respect of everyone in the area. We have to be ambassadors, responsible, and honest with ourselves about what these large dogs can be capable of when defensive.

Well in my experiences I've I myself and anyone I know or have seen , have been bitten by small dogs and terrier types more (no fatalities) I've seen tho still it's just my life of experiences I've seen or heard of. So I find that list is hard to take seriously .

Yes that is so true Swanguy. I got bitten by my mum's little yorkie and a friends poodle! My fault both times! You don't see those breeds making the news as dangerous dogs do yoU! I know they are small, but they could still hurt a child!!!!!
