Would you like pictures of pups as they grow from breeders

Northernmastiff got me thinking about this how do you feel about breeders that don't show you weekly updates of the pups? Before I "loss" my potential pup I only recieved one photo when the pup was born than after than never heard anything back until about 5 or 6 weeks of age. Its no big deal but I kind of would like to see the pups grow as Northernmastiff teased us with. :)

How does everyone else feel?

I was thrilled to get regular pictures of Apollo's litter as young puppies. We didn't find out WHICH puppy would be ours till it was almost time to pick them up but that was ok cause I had pictures!

The breeders I have picked Ronnie from have promised to send weekly updates from next week and said they would be surprised if they didn't see me at least one more time in the following five weeks before I can have her. Billie's breeders didn't send pics to us but they posted them on facebook and welcomed us as weekly visitors. The common factor with both of these cases is that I spent a lot of time searching out good breeders and in both cases was lucky that there were litters available when I contacted them. Botj were from the kennel clun assured breeders register and one of the things that the kennel club encourages is that regular access and images be provided to their litters.

I would love to see all breeders either post images on the internet or send them to prosepective and expectant owners.

As a potential new puppy buyer I would expect at least weekly updates. I understand that breeders are very busy; but a good clear pic of the litter along with mom would not be too much to ask. I would love pics of my potential puppy, if I or the breeder already picked one out for me. Also results from vet checks, anything outstanding, either good or bad, that happens to my pup before I pick him up. In turn I would send weekly updates & pics to the breeder after I take the pup home.

All of my breeders gave me regular updates/pics weekly, phone calls, temp eval info, vet visit info. I was updated at every milestone. I was even called when they were born. I will only deal with breeders who have a record of this. Without updates and info, it's hard to pick out a puppy and give input/discussion with the breeder. I feel that's what it takes to wind up with the perfect dog for you.

I also got weekly updates and pictures, although like Ruth we didn't know which pup would be ours until the end. I am so impatient so I could not deal with a breeder who didn't at least send an update or picture a week.

I have had the same.
Hell I have watched litters being born on Skype and have had webcams in the whelping box to watch daily, lol.
They very least a weekly update with picture. I personally don't think it is that hard, I mean snap a picture with your cell and send it as a text... Not like the old days
I also have good relationships with the breeders/friends. We are co-parenting after all.

Our breeder sent pics 2 or 3 times per week for the most part, and we loved it! At first pics were of the whole litter, then later just of our puppy. She also sent vet results, his weight, extended pedigrees, and pics of his parents and grand parents. We thought it was terrific -- we started bonding with him before we ever saw him in person.

Now the breeder wants weekly pictures from US, lol

The breeder I'm getting Jagger and Joplin from sends out or puts up weekly pictures and tries to send me other pictures if I ask for them. Right now she's actually planning on testing Joplin and another female I looked at with her kids to see if one is more likely to do better even though I'm sure either will do awesome!

That's kind of how I feel, I thought I found another breeder but I have not heard anything since the pups were born yet again. So I was wondering if this was a norm? Northernmastiff provided not only pictures but videos which were really nice to see!

I understand that breeders may be busy as well but I sent an e-mail since the last time and heard nothing. Time to move on yet again.

We got weekly photos of Dino and were invited to come visit whenever we liked, though we only were able to make the 3 hour drive 2 times before the 3rd when we took him home....I wouldn't have it any other way!!!

I prefer weekly photos as you can tell and don't think it is too much to ask. Annette had a email subscription of puppy buyers, potential puppy buyers, people interested in just watching the puppies grow, other breeders etc and she would create a word document (later a pdf document when she figured out how to do it) that had an update of the puppy, how each one was growing and snapshots. It took a bit of time considering she did one file for each puppy, each week, but people recieved more than just a photo. They found out the weight, health and if she noticed something new about their temperament, she would put it on. She would also put on updates about diet changes, etc and how mom was doing. It made everyone feel comfortable with buying from her and she would get emails from other breeders saying how wonderful it was to see the photos even though they weren't buying.

For me, it is a puppy I will be with for the next decade so I want to see how things are going during those first (and very important) 8 weeks.

Northern your breeder sounds fantastic, and I so agree with your last statement. :)

Maybe its an overseas thing.....

Annette is the Neo breeder, not Daisy's breeder but he sent me photos every week and had me up three times to see her as well. The one EM we were going to get, the woman wouldn't send me photos, said she was too busy with her 5 kids and illnesses and then 3 days before she was to be flown to us, which I was nervous about, she email me and said it would be two or three weeks because the dog had a sore on her nose and the vet said she wouldn't pass the health check. It was quite the fight but I managed to get my deposit back and realized why I wasn't getting photos of her.

I was referring the breeders I was looking overseas, sorry.

Well, I'm glad you got your deposit back. I had a few red flags go up after I got Thor but everyone's intentions are different.......and I'll leave it at that.

I would definitely want to keep track, if not for all Im investing, just cus Id be so darn excited there wouldn't be much else on the brain.

On another note, there are greyhound breeders that have owners preadopt their puppies, and the breeders keep them thru their racing career and the adopters get them once they're finished racing. but you can track "your" dogs career. It's kind of neat. I think in most cases greys are easy enough to take care of that alot of the adopters have mulitples so they're not just waiting years to finally get a dog.

Just to be clear Apollo's breeder didn't always email them to me, but she did put them up on her website every week, and sje did start emailing them pretty regularly after the 6 week mark when it started coming down to decision time.

Kelly that's kind of cool, not much in to dog racing but I think its neat that they have that.

The last breeder I looked at sent me an updated picture but at like 5 or 6 weeks. I even checked the website for updates but nothing..

When the time comes for me to get my pup, I would want weekly updates with pictures. I know breeders can be super busy and will put them on facebook, which works also. As long as I can see the babies :) Seeing pics when they are born, then nothing until 5 weeks would drive me batty. LOL.
Sounds like a lot of you have had good experiences with getting pictures :)

I have been wondering, do you have a time line for your baby :)
You have been so patient!
