I am not ashamed to admit that I have joined the throngs of people playing Pokemon Go. But, I only did this after I saw the community and good that the game was growing.
Before jumping on the bandwagon I was on my way to a family wedding. 4 am on the tram to the airport. Typically at that hour nobody communicates or meets eyes and everyone is a little grumpy. Instead I noticed people smiling, looking at their phones, looking up at each other, meeting each other's eyes, smiling, giggling. Interacting in tiny ways. The sorts of tiny ways that I am comfortable with as an extreme introvert with social anxiety. It was enough to make me smile and I am super not a morning person. I'm usually a bundle of growls and snarls in the early morning hours. Instead the comraderie on that tram created by a silly game had everyone in smiles. Beautiful. And that is what convinced me to join.
I found since joining pokemon go I enjoy dog walks more, I go on more walks by myself, my husband actually joins me on walks (I made him join the game also), and at work during breaks instead of sitting and doing nothing I go on a walk. On today's walk I came across a huge field and saw a guy playing with his two large mastiff looking dogs. Of course that made me super happy even just to see it from a distance. And now my mood is lifted for the entire day. Because I walked, because I saw happy life stuff in the real world... because of Pokemon Go.
