What to do.

We just drove several hours yesterday to purchase an apricot male friend for our 1yr old brindle female. When we arrived, I was shocked at the living conditions. Moms bowl was green with algae, kennels had piles of Lyme for fleas, doo everywhere, adults had visible sores on legs, puppies had bite marks. If I had the cash I would have taken all 4 pups. Our little guy smelled so bad on the way home. The AKC registered breeders provided no shot records, and accepted cash only with no guarantee. I went on a big gamble but couldn't leave our little guy there any longer.

What are your suggestions about this quasi English mastiff puppy mill? BTW took our pup to the vet and all checked out ok. Sores are from rough play with litter.

Thanks

This was in missouri ? man , my guess is animal control, or sheriffs office. honestly , i have no idea, but man that's hard to just give up on. Someone with some type of authority must be able to help. Anyone?

I would check out your local SPCA. They're probably better equipped to handle animal cruelty/neglect type cases. I think even the humane society of the us even has info on their site about it too.

Good for you for taking the pup anyway. I went through similar when picking up my 2 rescue/rehome ems. I just could not leave them there. Report them. They do not care about those dogs. They will breed them til their female gives out. I would have stole the dogs and burned their house down. No just kidding....wait am I?

That is so sad to hear. I am glad you were able to still take the one. Those poor babies:( Maybe even the local Mastiff rescue there could help. Glad to hear your little guy is healthy!

You can also contact AKC. It will take a long time, but without their AKC membership many folks won't purchase a puppy. Their sales will go down, & if SPCA is already aware of the living conditions of the animals, they will be watching (I hope) & take them away as soon as things become intolerable. Keep in mind that Missouri is not real big on animal cruelty. So you're probably going to have to be a polite pain in the a$$ to anyone/everyone involved. You probably weren't able to take pics, were you?

Wish I did but the owner was hawking the whole time. It was pretty bad. He claimed he was breeding them so often to get a brindle. At least my little spencer traded in a bed of Lyme, crud, and hay for a fleece baby blanket.

Contact SPCA ASAP. These are the type of breeders who need to be shut down due to the inhumane treatment of the dogs.
