What is Sunshine?

So Sunshine AKA "Sonny" is our little orphaned pup who brought us to this forum. We were told his litter was orphaned under sketchy circumstances. We were also told they were EM/St. Bernard mixes and they were 4 weeks of age. At pick up we questioned the breeds and knew they were only 2 weeks. B

Shoot! Posted before I was done:/

We decided to do genetic testing and it came back with, what we thought to be, some really crazy wrong breeds. But as he grows more we are wondering what he really could be. We would like the input of members because this is a very diverse group with much experience with a lot of different breeds. I will post pics and what the genetic testing showed. Thanks in advance!!

I should add he is roughly 8 months and I'm guessing around 60 lbs, maybe a bit more now.

Looks like an all american mutt to me! The thing with the dna test is that the more breeds involved the harder it is to get accurate results. Also, if the mixed breeds are further back or multi generational, the breeds they tell you on the results are just representative of the "group" that breed is from. For instance, my Yogi came back with 3 grandparents as Am Staffs, and one grandparent that was a mix of mastiff, american fox hound, beddlington terrier and spaniel. When I called them, they explained that they don't know what kind of mastiff and they don't know if it was actually american fox hound but rather a "gun dog". So each breed in that mixed breed grandparent wasn't necessarily accurate, but the group was.

You can bet pretty solidly on the rottweiler/pyrenese side, but the other side is anybodies guess. He sure is cute!

Thanks! We certainly think he's adorable but obnoxious we originally thought the rott/Pyrenees mix was out there but as he is maturing we can see it more. Most guesses are a German Shepard mix but other than coloring I see no other features to support it. Nice to hear you do too.

Most people throw out such random guesses based on what little they actually know of breeds... I had a woman once say, "oh, he's got some lab in him, that's a lab tail for sure!" what? How can you tell that's a lab tail? Because it's wagging??? I just smiled and nodded.
