I hope these show up ok. This is my favorite pic of me and Bruce, Bruce taking over the middle row of the minivan, and Brucey hugging his 6'4" daddy...

I am so very sorry for your loss.

It was his time, these big boys are only here a short while.

They give us such an immense love, & bless us with the gift of their time, & it never is long enough.

The way he passed was the way he needed to go, & it was peaceful, no suffering, & no long good byes.

Please do not blame yourself or think there is something you could have or should have done differently, it would only have interfered.
This was the natural way to pass, & while it came as a shock, this is truly the best way any loved one can pass.

We brought him home tonight. His urn and paw print are on my husband's dresser. We'll keep his ashes close until one day God calls Miss Daisy to lay her head to rest in His lap...and then spread their ashes together in the mountains. Thank you for all of your kind words. :(

My heart aches for you. Your memories of your gentle giant are priceless. You will drive yourself crazy with what-ifs. Last year I brought my 10 month old pug in to be spayed and she died before she reached the operating room. She had all her physicals, never showed signs of a heart problem or anything. I went through the waht-ifs, what if I chose another day to have her spayed, what if i chose not to have her spayed, what if, what if. It wasn't fair. I did not get an autopsy, she was gone and nothing was going to bring her back or make my pain go away. I am one of those people who believes animals do wait for us to leave when they know they are dying, it seems like Bruces last selfless act for the family he loved. Okay, I can't see the screen through my tears. I hope you find peace knowing there are so many people out here who understand your pain and have you and your family in our thoughts and prayers. Rest in peace, Bruce.

Terribly sorry to hear this! Whatever the specific circumstances, they always leave us too soon.

Sending healing thoughts your way.. There are no words to describe the feeling of a loss, especially your closest companion... I know he's happy on the other side of the rainbow bridge, and will patiently wait to meet again :)

We now have two urns on our mantel from our companions, gone too soon. Great loves cause great grief. We always find the time together vastly outweighs the time apart.
Please do share more happy memories of your Bruce with us - he sounds like an amazing dog!

I'm glad you have Daisy - and glad that she has you. It's good to have someone to lean on and cuddle with in times like this.
