What age does the drool start?

Millie is approaching 5 months and we don't have any yet. Just once I spied a string hanging from her chops while she was waiting for her dinner. But just the once. My parents are pleased as they hated the drool my DDB produced! They keep on commenting that 'she's not going to be a drooler like the last one'. My comment is 'there's time.....'

Does anyone remember what age it kicked in?

Pippa only drools after drinking water, where it stays in her jowls until slipping out as she walks away. And when she's about to eat or after eating something tasty. She's 19 months. Some aren't as slobbery as others.

Not all of them are droolers. If your dog has tight lips they may not be too bad. Emma never got real drool strings, she would just drip a puddle waiting for meals, other than that nothing.

Diesel didn't start til later and it was just minor drooling at dinner time at first. Now at 2 years old he still mostly just drools when he sees food but now it is major dripping drool when the food appears. The drooling got worse around 2 years old for him.

Kahlua is 7 months and still never droops but she has droopy lips so I expect it to start soon.

Denna's 5 years old and only drools in the house if she thinks you're going to share what it is your eating with her...

Outside is a different story... lots of yummy smells out in nature get her juices flowing. :)

Hi Sarah,

Charlie, has started just fairly recently.

He drools when he drinks, he drools when he sees food, he drools when he sees treats, he drools when he's eating, when we're eating, when I'm cooking, whenever someone is wearing nice clothing.....
