  • Welcome back!

We decided to spruce things up and fix some things under the hood. If you notice any issues, feel free to contact us as we're sure there are a few things here or there that we might have missed in our upgrade.

We might have accidentally bought this puppy. :P

Thanks, all.
We're pretty excited. The breeder is really smitten with her and I think he's a little sad that he's not keeping her.

My only concern is that she's a singleton. They have been doing interventions with her since she was born. Pulling her off the nipple, handling her and just generally being annoying. They also have 6 Tibetan Terriers and they've been slowly letting her interact with them. I think by the time we pick her up, she'll have had a ton of socialization with dogs and people. Hopefully that will keep her from having any weird personality disorders.

Has anyone ever raised a puppy that was a singleton? Any advice or things I should look our for?

Congratulations!!
I love that second picture!!

We have a 'designated dig area' in our yard - and "most" of the holes are in that area... but since Denna (EM) is coprophillic (poop-eater)... I can't bury poop in the mis-placed holes to deter digging. :( I sometimes throw treats in the "good" holes to promote digging there... which works for a little while.

We should start a Seattle-are Mastiff play group! I'm over in Kirkland. So far, my trainers are affiliated with Cascade Kennels in Woodinville and DoggyHaven in Bothell/Snohomish. I'm always open to learning from new trainers - Denna is probably too old to attend, but I'd still be interested in hearing where your group class is in March.

Do you like your trainers?
We are in Mill Creek and I just picked Seattle Dogworks because I read a book by one of their trainers and I liked their philosophy. I want to make sure we find a trainer that uses positive reinforcement without allowing our dogs to get pushy and uncontrollable.

I do like all the trainers we've been to as people. They all have different styles. The Cascade group is more traditional - pinch collars and leash tugs.

Kim, up at DoggyHaven is also a multi-EM owner. I haven't been to one of the classes she's personally taught yet, but others in her crew. They're a clicker/marker based philosophy that Denna LOVES. We start another one on Sunday afternoon... OB part 2. Kim is also the manager of the DoggyHaven boarding/daycare biz, and they do a great job at keeping the daycare groups under control - so they come home with all their manners intact. We've been sending our dogs there for boarding for almost 10 years.

I'll have to look into the Seattle Dogworks. A good book is a great recommendation!

He just weighed in at 113lbs. We're expecting 135ish by the time he's done growing, though I'm starting to think he might end up bigger. He was about 90lbs in that video.

And yes, when he wants to be he can be very much a clown, though some of thats because he's not much more thhan a pup still.

one question...who gets to fill the holes back in? lol We had a lab that made the yard look like a war zone with all the holes.

Lol! We mostly try to contain the digging to the fenced area, but he was having so much fun......we fill 'em in as we go mostly, for the sake of our ankles lol.

I don't have any more pics. I'll email the breeder and demand some new ones. :)

We are going to pick her up next Friday.
