Ultimate dog breed?

Hello guys. I am new to this forum so don't jump on me for asking this question. I don't know what people are like on this forum so excuse me if my question is obnoxious and irrelevant. So when I'm scouring through YouTube I come across videos like "Best Guard Dogs", "Best Protection Dogs", "Most Ferocious Dogs" etc underneath the videos I sometimes watch on puppies and other animal related videos. But sometimes i click on these videos for curiosity. Everyone of these videos has pretty much the same generic dogs in the video ie Rottweiler, German Shepard, Doberman, Pitbull etc. But I was just curious what is the ultimate top 5 dog breeds for personal protection and guarding if we are consider Speed, Stamina, Energy, Agility, Endurance, Power, Intimidation, Alphaness, Companionship, Loyalty, Intelligence, Athleticism, Strength and Jumping ability? And coming from the highest quality champion lines? Then giving an educated answer with knowledge and research then just calling upon generic breeds like the Doberman, Rottweiler, German Shepard etc. Because there are so many breeds people don't take consideration of or know anything about like the Corso, Presa, Dogo, De Bordeaux, Akita, Boerboel, Bullmastiff, Bully, Kangal, Tosa, Malinois, Schnauzer etc. I hope my question is viable and I know it might be controversial as there are so many fantastic dogs around but it will be interesting to see what everyone thinks. :)) p.s sorry for any spelling and grammar mistakes if there are any.

There is no one right answer, a lot more of it has to do with training/upbringing. Also with so many categories there are going to be breeds higher in one but not across the board. I can really only speak on the breeds I have owned and known personally. Between my girlfriend and I we have owned, dobermans, Rottweilers, Great Danes, pit bulls(am staffs), German Shepards, huskys, and now our Corsos. And between those I would take a corso as a protector over the rest. Am I bias because they are my current dogs, absolutely! However I have never seen dogs take to guarding a household so naturally in my life, combine that with their amazing athleticism, fierce loyalty, high intelligence and trainability, and some pretty amazing power and you got yourself a pretty amazing guard dog

There Is a pretty big difference between guard dog and guardian breeds.
Guard dogs are taught, guardian breed is a dog who bonds with his family and will defend it, they get between what they takes as a threat and there person. They will take it to the level needed to defend, but generally biting is not there first line.

Guardian breed if you want something to guard a business or property would be very bad at it, as they only care about the people they are bonded to.
They do not do well if there not constantly around there family.

Most Ferocious dog" would be kinda subjective. There's a confirmed case of a Dogo killing a Puma defending children, there is also a case of a EM taking on and chasing off a Puma that attacked a hiker. Most dog would not stand a chance where these dog won and came away with minor injuries.
Or on the other end are Fila's who are known for the ferocious nature toward all but there families. They will chase off or attack large preditors in a heartbeat.
CO's are quite famous for there abilities with wolves.
The Dogo, Boerboel, Cane Corso, and Persa are most likely your best well rounded in what you have listed.
Power,Intimidation, and Strength EM, Neo's and DDB's most likely a new level to anyone that has not been around them.
A 200lb dog pretty much just needs to give the lock up stare and no ones going to test there luck.
According to there raising Loyalty they are also a new level to most.

But no as a guard dog most of the mastiff breeds suck because they want to be with there family and if you put them out for long periods or somewhere to guard something, you will most likely cause issues, such as separation anxiety.

Also most are not good at bite training as there nature is to hold not actually biting.

They protectiveness of there families when they take something as a threat can be off the charts though, but a well trained and socialize one should be easily called off by the owner.

a Mastiff will help them carry the tv out the door
but would fight to the death saving his family

For me, it is the Brazilian Mastiff known more commonly as a Fila. I have never felt so safe. Truly not the dog for most. Does not accept strangers.

maybe i am biased :) but after extensive research i found that: based on guardian instincts , protectiveness, speed and power nothing matches the molossers shepherds of central asia and russia which includes the CAO, the CO and the Kangal. these are ancient breeds used to guard against all wild predators and today as farm and personal guards.. they are natural guardians and you cannot trick them and bribe them with treats ..unfortunately also used for dog fighting.... german shepherds and dobermans are no match for such dogs. you never train a CO or CAO to guard you just train for basic obedience and the rest comes naturally.
then i guess if you want a more laid back dog comes the mastiffs since they are big strong and heavy such as in the first place the spanish mastiff the the EM the Neo the Bully the Tosa the BB, the TibeteanMastiff the CC etc all these are supreme guard dogs too.

dont take me wrong GSD , doberman and rottweilers are extremely effective when trained ,,and they are very well trainable.... however if left on their natural abilities they are no match in size and power and guarding instincts of a CAO .

I have never picked a breed for protection.

I love the Boxer, they will always be my favorite funny companion.

The Mastiff absolute respect for and have the "Awe" factor for.

Once I got to know the breed better from a friend, I simply fell in love with them. I would not think a breed would take my attention away from a Boxer but this breed does.

I know all the pros and Cons for having one, so I got 2 now.

They truly TRULY bond with family. I for one accept their stranger danger, I don't want to train that out of them. I'm not a big socialize person so I don't train my dogs for it either. I see it as I'm grooming the breed to it's natural ability. Not forcing it the other way.

But whats nice is, it's a free country and different strokes for different folks.

Haha or JRTs. My Jack Russell was pure evil. If you don't want a builder, window cleaner or small cute thing in your house get a Sally.

That said one thing I've learnt.m from owning a mastiff (call it a SG or Giant Breed or what ever) is that they aren't guard dogs. They are more like that huge friend we all have who is the most lovely guy to those he knows but will level any mouthy bloke in a bar with out thinking.
And just like that huge mate, they only react when thy have to. Their size and stature do the work for them and they know it. They are not violent psychopaths but calm, collected and more than capable.

Thank you so much for your replies guys. :) Really interesting what your opinions are. :)

I think you will find most here view there respective dogs as part of there family, as thankfully do most mastiff/mastiff breed/CO/CAO owners. While we do know there size and power, it is zero to do with having the big badass dog on the block.

It's about having a dog that loves his people and is that cuddle bug. Let it be a dogo/CAO/EM/ or Fila, they love there families, that love them.

HA! For the JRT. I had 2 who definitely had no fear. Ran and acted as a pack and lived by those rules. Took down anything in their way. I loved them to pieces but they were quite intense. Lol

You all have scared me off from ever getting a JRT, now!! :D

My EM is a push-over, definitely not PP material. She'll alert that someone's in the yard... but as soon as we invite them in the door, they're her bestest friend (we had a city inspector over today that she was leaning on asking for pets within 5 seconds of him coming inside).

If I had to pick a PP dog... I'd go with a rottie. But, that's just me. I think they're beautiful dogs, loyal, trainable, and can be intimidating when needed.

That said - if I did want a dog for PP... I'd want to find a good breeder who bred with that in mind. There are so many variables between breeding, training, environment and temperament... you could get the perfect PP breed trained next to a mutt, and that mutt might take to it better. Just depends on the individual dog, sometimes.

No offense meant - were I looking for all those attributes in a dog for personal protection, I'd recommend you get a Desert Eagle .50 caliber, perhaps two. Add a KSG 1216 combat 16 round 12 gage semi-autimatic shotgun to round out the profile. Yes, I am generalizing, but if you need a dog that is primarily a weapon, why screw around? Just get something that will cleanly kill whatever you are afraid of and be done with it. Why drag a dog into that kind of mess? No need to subject a poor dog into being a mobile pit fighter for "protection."

I would rely on my CC girls to buy me enough time to reach and deploy my firearms.

I think Dogo, Presa, Fila are the most lethal breeds. Not in this specific order. Others are more impressive or spectacular.
From a different perspective, any medium sized dog can attack an intruder... Owning a super ultra powerful dog just to feel safe is like getting a Ferrari for your grocery shopping.

many interesting replies :) many of us dont need any personal protection ..we are just debating about the ultimate breed regardless if we need any protection or not. i would not let my baby engage in any confrontation just to protect me unless its a bear and i am unarmed lol!
1-for me CAO CO and kangal as an ultimate dog powerful however with low "trainability" and highly independent
2-then comes some of mastiff breeds powerful with better trainability and more dependent.
3-then comes dobies, GSD, Rotties..highly trainable and more practical
