Tracking Championship Title!!!!!

I was told Mastiffs naturally ground scent which is a huge part of the battle right there. Once you convince them that it is fun, they will track and keep tracking. They are really good at it!

I had to spend a lot more time on foundation work than some of the other teams and certainly was rewarding any of the desired behaviours more heavily than some of the other dogs required... But you have to CONVINCE a Mastiff that they really do want to do this. And once they hit that point, there is no stopping them. Sometimes, quite literally haha.

That's awesome! Thanks for posting this! I wouldn't have thought Tali might be good at it, but now I'm thinking it might be a gas finding out. There's a trainer here that has some former FBI guy come in once a year for a course like that. Maybe I'll sign her up next time!

Congratulations to both of u!

I wondered if there would be any advice you could give to someone who is thinking of trying it with there Bullmastiff. We know he has a great nose. It's just getting him able to track. Things to do, or avoid? We have a couple of books but are thinking a class might be better. They are expensive here as well. It's always great to see someone get titled with a big dog. Thanks!
