Toe furs & other misc
...Tessa is sprouting toe furs
All of the fur on her feet appears very short, but in the same place on all 4 paws, right in the middle of her toes, only between toes 2 & 3, --so dead center of her feet--there are about 10-15 2 inch long furs that stand straight up. I'm wondering where this is going to lead???
I thought Tessa was
some of her winter coat, but I think I was mistaken, because while it feels thick, I still do not see an undercoat, on her hind end, it was just fur that was growing in to make the back of her legs feathery-like.
On some sites I've been reading it says TM fur is course & stands straight up off the skin, & when undercoat is present it is wooley.
--I am wondering about this--it seems those of you on here say your pooch's fur is *soft*--Seems this can be diet related also-perhaps we're feeding different quality food & fur has different feel?
And do TM's generally 'make teeth' when playing? Meaning showing teeth--Some dogs have a different smile or grimace type of thing they do when they play where they lift their lips & display teeth. I'm trying to discern exactly what Tessa is doing-it can look a little scary with those teeth-both when she is playing & when she is being a snot. She lifts her front lips.
I've been getting some 'back talk' type of stuff recently when trying to correct her. She doesn't make any sound, but if I put my hand up--as if to say "stop" she will make teeth--this is definately NOT acceptable.
And a few times in the past week or so, if I go to grab her collar when correcting she goes for my hand as if to snap, but only mouths--this isn't acceptable either. And I also have been getting a paw up. She'll take her paw & smack my hand out of the way if I have my hand there. All of this seems to be occurring at once, so I figure she's in a phase.
The other thing that has occurred out of nowhere, with no reason at all, is an issue with cutting Tessa's nails. I've never had any accident, Tessa has never been accidentally nipped in the vein, so I have no idea what's up on this front. What I had been doing was regularly just shaving off the tips of her nails so that I didn't have to do a full clip--figured i'd attempt to keep them short & trained from the beginning.
Now all of a sudden Tessa wants none of that, & I cannot just clip her nails by myself like I was doing.
She jerks her paw back or mouths...So I've not been able to get her nails clipped in a couple of weeks & now they need done, but I need a 2nd person.
I'd done a ton of handling of Tessa as a pup, so I'm kind of at a loss with this one, because it did just come out of nowhere.
