I know people who swear by them. Personally I've never had a dog who's that afraid of something to want to try it on them....

It's meant to be like Temple Grandin's hug machine which has been shown to help people with autism. It does work with a lot of dogs but it didn't help my shepherd.

It's the same reason why swaddling helps most hyperactive babies to relax.
It's gives them the feeling like they would still be in the warm, safe and most of all very snuggly, uterus of their mothers.
Nothing to worry about, it's always warm, no hunger feelings, ...
Especially in todays daily rush, that feeling is relaxing.:character0053:

I was just thinking of this as I read this! I've heard they work well too.

Got it for Topaz. She is so afraid of thunderstorms and loud banging, that I decided to give it a try. A few people I talked to swear by them. So I ordered and have only had it on her once in the past few weeks we've owned it. It did seem to help a bit, she went and laid down by me instead of trying to "climb me" during the storm. She's also used to wearing a coat though (I put one on her in the winter), so we were quickly able to skip the whole "getting used to the feeling" step.

That's the first thing I thought of too when I saw it - Temple Grandin.

I thought of Temple Grandin too. I had a dog once that panicked every time it rained. I wad to constantly monitor the weather and when majors storms and the likes of hurricanes were coming thru, I would have to pre-dose him with Benadryl and just let him sleep thru the storm. I would have tried this. However, my current lovey has no such need.

The cool thing about them is they have a 30 day money back guarantee so if it doesn't work you get your money back.

They do work and I know alot of people swear by them. Temple Grandin was correct in her explanation of how the pressure is actually calming and soothing to autistic children and it also works with animals. I have worked with autistic children over the years and some of them actually had weighted vests that we would put on them when they became upset and agitated to calm and soothe them so that they wouldn't engage in self abusive behaviours. It may sound strange but studies have shown these treatments do work...

We had very small little sweaters for the golden puppies. They truly worked, and they looked cute too. One puppy was always stressed, even when mom & littermates were around. We thought she would be like that all of her life for awhile. Twenty minutes after putting her little red sweater on, she settled right down. This went on for a couple of weeks if I remember correctly, and she finally outgrew the hysteria & became a beautiful girl. But man, I thought I was gonna lose my mind with that constant crying.
Ruby doesn't like to travel, and guess what? Neither does her mother Opal. Opal wears a thundershirt every time she goes to a dog show, & her owner says it works really well. He has two; he's planning on giving us the other one when we see him next.

Yup, I have heard really good things about them. I know a few people who swear by them for dogs with car issues.
Can't hurt.

When I took my TT course, we talked about that and used the bandages to help the dogs. Part of the theory is that with a dog that lacks confidence it make sthem more selfaware, and it gives them a little bit more confidence. Like they dont really know where their legs, tail, whatever is, but when you put the bandages on them it helps them understand where they are and grounds them a bit I guess.

Just wanted to say also I dont know why you would have to "buy" a shirt. Most old tshirts can be modified to fit your dog. I found my old baseball shirts were a good style for Jovo. course, a mastiff is a little different....

It has to do with the snug fit. Its supposed to be snug and tight to work. Possible yess with home done stuff, but not everyone wants to bother.

The science behind it makes sense, i seriously considered one for Greta when her separation anxiety was at its worst.
