LOL no I know what you meant. I very rarely see any Giant dogs in general. Besides the usually labs, goldens....then of course lots of smaller breeds.

I went looking back in my laptop for a few pictures you can compare too. I do not know about your pup but her head looks like a TM muppet head mix.
First 2 are at 16 weeks the second is her at 21 (lanky phase).

Well, I did not set out looking for a TM by ANY stretch.
Just happens it appears to have turned out thst way.

A member (kbuchanan) here found me on a rottie forum & pointed me here because Tessa has some odd behaviors that Kbuchanan has read in the TM forums, & my descriptions rang familiar to her & she saw the pic of Tessa.

I doubted TM too, but thought I should look into it, because Tessa's behavior is NOT even close to any rottie I've ever dealt with(nor any other breed for that matter), & my descriptions/questions were being dismissed or even somewhat attacked there, but they rang familiar to her.

I was looking for a large breed shelter pooch, or rescue org pooch--I had been searching locally for a long time, initially for an adult who was *great* with cats, I wasn't even considering a pup for the most part.
I was specifically looking for a rottie or a dane or a mix of one of those breeds--that's where my experience is.

After dealing with quite few not so great, partially schitzoid type of rescue org people locally, I decided to drop the idea of adopting an adult.
I was either dealing with complete control freaks who were not forthcoming (flat out lying)about the adult dog, or previous behavioral issues, or temperment, or people who wanted so much access to my personal info & inside of my home & free access to visits, I ditched the idea. I don't want strangers in my house snooping around at their whim & I wasn't giving free access to follow up visits for the life of the dog, & they wanted contract stating they could visit at any time without notice-& also for me to sign a contract not giving me ownership--& that they could take the dog back at their discretion--apparently it is popular with rescue people here--and it's total BS.

I realized I could not put my own established pets at risk with a questionable 100lb+ adult & I just didn't want the invasion of my privacy that these rescue types seem to demand.

Honestly, some of it is just crazy-more personal info than what you put on a mortgage application-it was just too creepy. There's a point of caring for rescues, then there's a point where it is actually a disservice to the pooch.

I was bummed out for a long time, then started considering a puppy. I searched local shelters & online for breeders & litters for almost 6 months to see what was out there. I was considering a rottie or dane pup from a breeder, or a mix of one of those breeds, but was also still surfing petfinder for adults who were *not* from the local orgs I no longer wanted to deal with.

--I saw Tessa's face--and that was it.
I KNEW. I was initially turned down for adoption.
I am in PA, she was in MD, many people already had their adoption aps in. & a family was sched to adopt her.
I just persisted, & lol sent the welfare org all docs like the crazies locally were asking for, pics of my yard, references, & emails. And for whatever reason, the family sched to adopt her was turned down & so was the back up adoption. And well, here I am.

Anyway--Atlas--in my other thread, after doing some searching about the place that Tessa was originally surrendered, a pup of the same age is listed as a lost dog from that same shelter--that pup has a striking resembleance to ruth's pooch, I posted the pic, though also not purebred-I also was told Tessa was surrendered because she was an accidental breeding-breeder had 2 bitches have littlers within a week or 2 of each other & breeder didn't want the mixed breed pups.

I have a LOT to learn if Tessa is TM. Communication sure isn't her strong point lol.

I consider myself lucky that she is a mix--because she blew her long puppy fur & I will not be dealing with the TM coat ;)
She has rottie like fur but softer all over her body, she is getting lanky.

If she turns out not to be TM--well, I'll be at a loss for what to think-cuz i NEVER experienced a pup or a dog like her.

Her behaviors--the odd things that stood out to me-are the same as what is described here with TMs.

She's like a very very old dog in a puppy body, she's got an 'old soul'.

Just wanted to add, there was a point here, but I lost it due to having to leave & come back to this reply 10 times, so if it's not so linear, well, I blame it on Tessa!!!

Thank you for the compliments-Tessa thanks you too!

Every day I fall in love with that face a little more, it's crazy how cute she is-she draws a lot of attention when we are walking-everybody approaches her & tells her & gives her pets--she has come to expect it---LOL if someone walks by without paying attention to her-she looks confused! She adores children & is so patient with them.

Even if she is not TM... she behaves like one in attitude so why not train her like one? I mean find something that will work for you and take advise from those who have been through it. Why not what have you to lose really.

Haha, I missed the line about communication. TMs are subtle dogs when it comes to most body language. You'll learn to read her with time, well, as much as any of us do!

oh good lord! yes, ~~~subtle~~~
the polar opposite of me. UGH!!!

I'm telling you-my last pooch sent Tessa from the bridge-to teach me (& also to torment my super twerp of a cat).
