Tattoo ideas...

I've been planning to get a 3rd tattoo for awhile. I know WHAT I want, at least part of it. I want it to involve pawprints of some sort to symbolize Uallis and my Lab, Eddie; my 2 heart dogs (I believe you can have more than one...even at the same time...;)). I want the 2 pawprints and then some sort of symbol next to them...like one pawprint, then the symbol and then the second pawprint...if that makes sense? Or some variation...it doesn't really concern me where the pawprints are placed at this point...I'm having a huge amount of trouble with the symbol.

I made a short list of words I think of when I think of my dogs:

Friend
Guardian
Loyality
Love
Eternal
etc, etc...

So from that I've determined that I want something that symbolizes Friendship and Loyality. I've looked online and I can only find symbols that are Chinese, Japanese, or Religous in nature. I don't find anything wrong with that, but its not something that I'm 'into' and I would like something different. Uallis is "Wallace", only in Gaelic form...I was hoping to follow that theme.

Does anyone have any ideas? Or some knowledge in Gaelic, Celtic type symbols?

I swear, I have been looking for so long, I'm about ready to rip my hair out...so I decided to ask if anyone else had any ideas or even links to share.

Thanks! :D

Have you considered Norse runes at all? They're pretty simple symbols, but I don't know if you're looking for something more complicated or not. They also represent letters as well as ideas.

As far as Gaelic symbols go, what about the Claddagh? You could do something really cool with that, I think.

For myself, I decided to start a little personal tradition of getting a flower tattoo that represents a loved one that has passed. So far I have five, and two are for my doggies. :)
