You need to transition slowly. Ideally you would've done 3-5 days of 25% new food, 75% old. Then 3-5 days of 50% old, 50% new and then finally 75% new and 25% old for 3-5 days. Mastiff puppies should be on a quality adult or all life stages food as soon as they are weaned. You also need to make sure there's appropriate levels of calcium and correct calcium to phosphorus ratio. At this point with the four days of diarrhea there's not much point in transitioning. You want to "reset" your pups digestive system by feeding a couple days of either boiled chicken and white rice or boiled hamburger and white rice. After a couple days of this with solid stool you can start transitioning onto the new food in the same manner as above except substitute the chicken or hamburger for the old food.

thank you for your response. too late now, but i am curious why you say no english mastiff should ever be on puppy food. even a high quality large breed? i read that often. but just as often as i read they SHOULD be on large breed puppy food. like i said, too late for us since we are swithching her to adult. just curious. fasted her since last night and will be giving her boiled hamburger, jasmine rice and a sponful of plain yogurt for dinner tonight.. wish us luck

Mastiffs aren't large breed dogs, they are giant breed dogs. Puppy foods are usually a marketing gimmick and nearly identical to adult formulas but usually cost more money. Most puppy foods also require you feed more food than the adult formula so it not only costs more but you go through it quicker. Also some puppy foods have higher calcium and phosphorus ratios and levels than a mastiff puppy needs so it's just better and cheaper in most cases to stick to an adult food or an all life stages food.
