I been running Moose everyday and I know he's sore cause I know I am. Is there a good suplament or vitamine for muscle recovery or should I not give anything... thanks in advance

Cosequin is a good joint supplement and what I use for my dogs.

However, isn't he something around 11 months old? You shouldn't be running him until he's sore at that age. He could be doing some very severe damage to his joints.

When is a good age to run them cause his energy level is super high lately and this is the only way I can tire him out

After their growth plates close. So 16-18 months, probably.

Non-forced running on grass is fine. Forced running on concrete isn't. The difference between the two is that on grass he can alter his pace, stop and sit, change directions, etc. It allows much more freedom of movement than running in a straight line using the same repetitive motion on concrete.

What else do you do with him to tire him out? Training sessions with mental challenges are a great way to tire a dog out. You could also look into a weighted backpack that he can wear while playing fetch.

I feel your pain. I have a very large and energetic Great Dane puppy. He's getting difficult to wear out. I just can't stress enough how much damage you can do to a young dog by running them hard on concrete. And with Danes, growth plate closure isn't until close to two years old in some males. So I've had to find different ways to go about getting rid of his energy. Might not be easy, but it's better than dealing with a 4-5 year old dog who is already arthritic and stiff because of joint damage.

When Denna over-does things, I give her Green Lipped Mussel powder (we've been giving her that daily for a few months now). I also have some herbal stuff on hand, for days when she goes waaaay overboard (DH was training for a 5k, and would take her out on fast-paced 4 mile jaunts around the neighborhood - mostly on concrete sidewalks)... She's always better after a day of rest, so no idea if the supplements/herbals do anything or not...

Here's a link to the herbal stuff we have on hand: Only Natural Pet Get Up & Go

Tumeric is a good anti-inflammatory that might ease joint stiffness, too. A number of people I know use it daily - both for their dogs and themselves.

I like to walk/jog with Denna over to an area where I can let her off-leash for a few minutes of sprints on grass - chasing a ball, frisbee, or stick. The sprints, even just a few minutes worth, really knock out some of the crazy energy bugs.

Coconut oil works the best for Kryten. He has Elbow Dysplasia and I very rarely need to use any pain meds as long as I give him coconut oil daily. I've tried other supplements but they didn't seem to help even after a couple of months so I stopped using them.
