Coconut and Fish oil are chemically very different... so one might work for one dog/ailment, and the other for someone else... Fish oil (high Omega-3's) helped Denna's itchies go away. I didn't see any help from coconut oil (lauric acid & Vit E)... but we might not have been consistent with it long enough. I get the buckets from Costco... I find it tasty, myself. :) I also use it for skin lotion, instead of the hydrocarbon based varieties.

Denna's Mom - the next time you're out and about, see if you can find some vegetable glycerin (humectant) and some vitamin E oil (or you can poke a capsule). Mix a little glycerin and E into your coconut oil. If you can get squalene, you'd have a quick an easy facial serum. I also like avocado oil. I add some other ingredients to my serum, but you probably don't have preservative or panthenol around the house. I sometimes make a goodly batch and use a paper towel to make one of those sheet mask things.

Sorry for the hijack!

What about mixing it with a little cortisone 10 cream. Talk to the vet first to see if it's an option.. poor baby, I hate to see these guys so uncomfortable.
