Solo's new prong/cover.

When she makes the cover she allows room for an extra link to be added, so once you get close to being "full grown" I'd get the cover...unless you don't mind buying more as he grows.

I agree. I saw the collar on Leerburg's site and reached out to her. She replied quickly and I could tell right away she was passionate about her work. Which made me comfortable working with her. She answered every question I had swiftly and confidently. I thought the price was great. I'm going to be using Solo as a therapy dog at my new school and I know how ppl can be ignorant (and stupid) when it comes to a prong. So this serves a great purpose as well.
That's so awesome that Solo will be going to school with you! From what I've seen here, I think he'll make a great therapy dog. That said, I'm going to offer some completely unsolicited advice... I would highly recommend getting yourself and Solo certified by a therapy organization to visit the school. If he's going to be performing the job, you guys should really have the insurance protection and the certification that he's a therapy dog. I volunteer at my local school with a special education reading class and at times with some at risk youth with behavior/anger issues. When you increase your dog's exposure to populations with behavior/emotional/mental issues or health issues, you increase the risk of accidental injury to your dog, yourself and the people you are serving. The insurance covers you in any of those instances. Unexpected things can (and do) happen, best to have the certification to back you up if anyone questions and the insurance in case anything happens.

Being part of an organization also provides you with resources and guidelines to keep your dog, you and and your students safe, as well as tons of helpful information. The 2 biggest organizations are Pet Partners and Therapy Dogs International. I'm registered with TDI, one of the reasons I like it is because they only require you pass the evaluation once, where Pet Partners requires you to be re evaluated every 2 years. I would just look into it; there's no classes or specific training required, just that you and the dog can meet the requirements of the evaluation.

Yep, they are handling all of that. There is a local chapter affiliated with Pet Partners called MO-KAN Pet Partners.

Oh, good, glad to hear that. What a fantastic new adventure for you two!
I think so, too. I interviewed with the principal and about 4 other teachers over Google Hangouts. Well, my profile pic is of Solo. After about an hour interview the principal said, "I have one more question. Can we see your dog." Solo had been laying at my feet during the whole interview. I just said, "Sure, hold on. I tapped my leg, Solo sprung up and his whole big head was in the monitor. Needless to say, he sealed the deal. That's when she asked if he was good with kids etc.
