small growth Cane Corso

Hello everyone.

I have got my first dog, and I'm not very familiar with this breed.

My cane corso puppy is weighing in at around 6 kgs (13 pounds) at 8 weeks (2 months) old.

Does this means that he wouldn't fully grow as a normal cane corso should?

Thanks :)

Edit: By the way, when I got it from the litter, he had a sister bigger in size than him, and mostly all of the other pups.

Welcome to the forum, the smallest of the litter can turn out to be the biggest at the end, the best way for these is slow and steady growth.
You say you dont know much about the breed have you owned any dogs previous to your new pup.
I have 3 male ccs i love the breed but they need plenty of time given to them and if you need any advice this forum and the great people on it will be here.
I would love to see some pics of your new pup. I always go by the look of the pup than weight.
Enjoy the puppy stage they sure do grow fast

I wouldn't worry. My EM was 24 lbs at 11 weeks when I got him. He is now one of the big boys here at 200 lbs. A little puppy doesn't mean a small adult. Just monitor his weight and keep him at a good body condition and he'll get to his full size.

Thanks for the wonderful info guys, I have been to the vet, and he told me the same thing.
Also told me, after doing pedigree check, the puppy is with good potential to be a champ, hence his ancestors were one of the best mastiffs on the Balkan (I live in Macedonia)

By the way, I have owned a rottweiler before, but had to give it up due to not being able to properly keep him, but this was 4 years ago, things are different now, and I moved into a house with big yard.

I would upload pics of him when I find more free time.

Again, thank you for your help, have a wonderful day :)

Welcome to the forum, the corso is a fabulous breed when the right amount of time and effort are put into it.

If he was from a larger litter there are often lighter weights even at 8 weeks. Genetics are pre-determined so as long as there is nothing environmental or nutritional that stunts his growth then he will grow to what he is meant to be.

It takes more than a nice pedigree and a championship title to be considered breed worthy but your puppy is young, give him a few years to mature and see what you are looking at then.

It was a home bred cane corso, told to me born on 3 oct 2022 , it's 5 dec 2022 , i bought her on 27 nov 2022, he was just 2 kg on 27 and the ears are short as well, I'm not sure that if the puppy is mix breed or the puppy is malnourished, it had many worms whic lh i dewormed on nov27 and untill dec 2 worms kept coming out in faces, I'm attaching pictures pls help me out on this. The mother and father video is also attached, i need help on what to feed , I'm not concerned if it's mix breed but i certainly want to know, i don't want to bloat him up with food, or starve him to malnutrition.
