"V" lips (should be inverted "U"), muzzle MUCH shorter than the skull, stop should be less pronounced, slightly bulbous head.

Yea unfortunately he has the "V" lips. I don't think the head is bulbous. Thanks for commenting(being honest) dogman appreciate the feedback. Hopefully other people comments aswell.

No problem. In some pics it doesnt appear bulbous but in one it is very apparent.... in the 2nd pic (the one with 4 in it) look to the top right pic.... although it is very bulbous in that one I said "slightly" bulbous only because the other pics arent in the same angles to show it so I dont want to go based on one possibly bad pic like at least one other person in this group does.

I don't know anything about Fila conformation but personally I think he's impressive!!!

PS what's the temp like?:D
Thanks for commenting duetsche. I don't know the dog personally so I won't comment but judging by my pups temperament it's solid, classic temp.

The v lip is a moot point as most of the cafib dogs that are being placed in shows have a v lip not a u lip, so whats the deal with that?? I seen alot of the dogs in the show that was streamed a couple days ago most of them had a v lip. I thought cafib has stated that it was a sign of mix breeding.

As was stated the muzzle is a bit shorter then the skull, should be a 1:1 ratio but i think that was change in the most recent update to the cbkc standard to allow for a shorter muzzle. As we know this fila is not a cafib bred dog, so should not be judged by that standard. When you look a the dog can you tell its a fila? Yes. Does it have ears inset at rear of the head and at the eye level? Yes. Does the dog have thick v shaped ears? Yes. Does the dog have thick loose skin as the standard requires? Yes. You can tell by the nice thick dewlap he has under his neck, a dog lacking skin will not have a very large dewlap or large lips for that matter. Does the dog have a stop? No it flows gradually into the forhead, these dogs were not shown to have a nose(muzzle) like a bull terrier back in the day, nor did they have a stop like an english mastiff, it was a gradual slope from the middle of the muzzle to the forehead and on a brindle faced dog it is hard to tell at certain angles. Does the dog have almond shaped eyes? Yes. Does the dog have a pear shaped head? Hard to tell unless you are right over the top of its head but from what i can see it looks on the pear shaped side and does not look bulbous to me. In my opinion I think he has a nice looking typical typey fila head. Not to houndy, not to mastiffy.

image.jpgThanks for the reply mountain, love the insight. I agree with you. I know he is not perfect, but over all he's a great fila except for the V shaped lips. I love his ear set. Everyone is entitled to their opinions and I encourage everyone who loves the fila brasileiro breed to speak up and join the discussion. Nobody is bashing anybody for having a different opinion not on this thread. Btw my pups mom has the perfect 1:1 muzzle ratio and "U" shaped lips. Here is a picture

dont worry no bashing out of me, i was just asking a question about the v lip thing, i think its a buncha bull pucky, thats why the first mention was of the lips as its a sign of mix breeding but if you look at quite a few kennels that breed to the cafib standard you will see the v lip, so that is why i was questioning it. I think its quite funny that you show a black fila with a u lip hahahahaha just goes to prove my line of questioning.
