Good morning. My husband and I just adopted a 5-6 mos old Boerboel with confirmed Hip Displaysia. He is currently extremely underweight by about 20 lbs. Any other Boerbel owners out there with experience raising a pup with hip displaysia?

can you post the x-ray ? did they tell you why he was dysplastic ? honestly , underweight is a plus ........ walk him a lot , uphill as much as possible , controlled up and down stairs , drag pulling light chains or a sled are all ways to strengthen their rears with minimal imact .....discourage hard running , cutting and jumping , high impact , high torque exercises ..... encourage low impact exercises , as much as possible ........ hd is not the death sentence as many believe , you want to prevent/delay the arthritic remodeling that takes place over time ....... get their rears as strong as possible without banging up the joint will do that ...........

Chicken feet. CBD oil. Vitamin C. Exercise. Last 2 ribs sticking out is always a great thing. More weight = more problems.

...So expercise is really the key for displaysia. I think rehabilitation could also work if your vet have a program for it.
