Red angel raw

I'm part of a yahoo group here in AZ for raw feeders and really have only found Suzie's, until today. I read an email for Red Angel Raw and their prices look too good to be true. I looked through the site and they use human grade ingredients and say they never use denatured meat. They do grinds for ease of use, but some of the case prices look amazing. Can someone check this out and tell me what I'm missing...if anything?

I'm seeing prices in the $3-6.50/lb range... that seems good or even high, to me.

Here in the Seattle area our coop buys grinds in bulk for $2/lb for chicken or beef, $3/lb for venison and $4/lb for rabbit. These are just meat and bone, organs are sold separately and normally cheaper. They also do some of the retail brands (Red Rock, Bravo, etc.) - but those run more in the $4-8/lb range, so we do those a lot less often. Taxes & Delivery add another $0.20/lb or so.

So... if those prices include delivery fees, it all looks reasonable to me!

I wonder if they could provide you some references/neighbor's to talk to about their products (and maybe buy joint or help with delivery pickups, too).

Thanks for the suggestions. I was questioning if I wanted the grinds or not and was actually just looking at the cases of raw meat and bones. I know the grinds would be easier but the cases would give the girls stuff to actually chew on. The non-grind case lots are where the really good deals are.

So here is where I am getting a bit confused. The girls way 92 and 84 lbs, so if I feed them 45% or their body weight a day that comes out to 6 1/2 pounds daily which totals 250 lbs a month. So unless I can source something for around $1 a day, I'm going to go broke. This was kind of the reason I wanted to wait until they stopped growing so I could price out what it would cost...but at $2.90/lb for the prey model food, that would cost us over $700/month and I can't pay that much. I know I can get less expensive food at Costco and the store, but that would mostly be chicken/turkey/beef...not much more.

It does take some creativity to stay on budget when feeding raw. We buy from the same co-op that DennasMom does. Mainly to have the variety aspect to of at least 4 protein sources. The bulk of our dogs diet, and way to keep cost down for us, is from chicken on sale at the grocery store and goodies from our local butcher and a couple mobile (on site) butchers for tripe, liver and heart - many times for no or nominal cost. We have also lucked into freezer clean out from family members and neighbors who hunt and fish. The more you talk to people the more it seems we have been able to find.

Personally I like the ground with bone included. Angus is a gobbler and is notorious for not chewing his food - including bones. With the ground I don't worry about him choking or perforating something. He still gets bones - as in rib bones to chew on under supervision.
