Raw diet for Corso

We feed a raw diet to our dog (our cat as well). We buy everything weekly and freeze the meals for the week. They are all doing very well on it and the vet (who is against raw) is happy with growth and maintenance.

Our dog eats a variety of meats and organs. Here is what we do daily for our 5 month old 55lb pup (she is still growing):

Chicken Backs 12oz
Beef Liver 0.9oz
Beef Kidney 1.2oz
Beef Heart 3.9oz
Green Tripe 3oz
90/10 Ground Beef 3oz
Pork Tenderloin 3oz
Ground Turkey 3oz
Canned Oysters 1.2oz
Atlantic Herring 2.7oz
Vitamin E 1 drop
Kelp Powder 57mg
Canned Pumpkin 3oz

We then break those daily amounts into 3 servings a day. She loves her food. The crunching of bones is stimulating to her. She has a soft, clean coat, clean teeth, fresh breath and full of energy.

Hope this helps those who are looking into raw and need some guidance.

I have started feeding our boy 2- 1 pound feedings, morning and noon, of a blend I buy that has beef and chicken. It contains both organ meets and bones all ground together. It comes in frozen 1 pound packs which are very convenient. We then feed 1 evening feeding of Origin large breed puppy feed which I am thinking we’ll change to another feeding of raw. He is 4.5 months old and 70+ pounds now. He is in great shape and FULL of energy!

You should definitely make the switch to full raw diet. Olive's food is just under a pound each meal. She loves it. Watching her chomp some chicken backs right now. We did a lot of research and had her raw diet ready the day we got her. We still do research. I love the slow and steady growth that these large breeds need. We have had no injuries and the breeder said that the healing of her ear crop was better progressed than her littermates. Thats what you get from raw, healing from the inside out.

What kind of dog is Gus?

Gus is an English Mastiff.
Agreed, we have seen a big change since feeding him the 2 raw feedings. The sheen on his coat alone was very apparent and hardly any shedding. The company I deal with has different proteins available as well that we are planning to work in as time goes on. Our vet also poopoo’d the idea of raw, she said that they have found small bone fragments in it….I said that this was intentional to provide a natural calcium intake. We agreed to disagree LOL. They are very happy with his weight and physical shape.
Our obedience trainer is amazed at his growth every week. His bone structure is massive…..I’m thinking he’s going to be a big fella when he’s full grown.

Very nice and a beautiful dog. We love being able to control all that goes into our dogs. No vet will ever agree to a raw diet because they get kickbacks for kibble. Time to take control of our own lives and quit feeding the big corps our money.
