'Quirky' behaviour!

Hi! I'm still new to this forum and have loved reading about mastiffs and their behaviour and seeing everyone's pics but just wanted to know about any weird or odd behaviour! For example my 5 month old male bullmastiff (Bronson) is convinced he is a human. He whinges and whines whenever anyone will listen and also tries 'talking' to us! I've never had such a vocal dog before and there's no stopping him! Also if you don't listen or pay attention then you have to be ready for a whack with his paw so you know he's telling you something serious!lol Does anyone else's dogs do the same?!

Welcome! He sounds like quite the character and lots of fun. I hope you talk back to him? We'd love to see some pictures of your boy.

Buddha our Male EM is a big talker too and gets louder if he thinks your not paying attention to what he is saying LOL
As far as quirky goes, I think Buddha stood in line twice for that gene, of course he is a brindle and they're known for being......a little....ah....unique? LOL
His latest thing is to take one of his toys or bones with him when he has to go to the bathroom. As soon as he lets us know he has to go and we get up, he runs over and picks up something of his and brings it with him. Once he tried to bring his blanket! LOL

Rolex does this whenever I let him grab a toy before we go out. He will hold it in his mouth the whole time he is outside while he pees, barks and runs around, it's really funny to watch. His new thing is taking all of the toys out of his crate and putting them all on my bed. Everyday I put them back in and every night he takes them out and puts them right next to/on me in bed so instead of avoiding 4 toys when I'm sleeping now its more like 10. He will also sleep with toys in his mouth, like a pacifier and knead with his feet like a cat. He is also pretty vocal when I am around, he is quiet a a mouse when I'm gone but as soon as he knows I'm home he won't shut up, he makes the most pathetic sounding noises like having a giant pity party. He knows that he has to be quiet for me to come upstairs because he go silent when I approach the stairs but it doesn't stop the crying whenever I walk in the door. I think Roly might have followed Buddah in the quirky gene line, one of my nicknames for him is "goofy".

The stories are so funny! Titan will bring a toy and lay it down it front of me and whine. He's very vocal when playing, he growls and if you didn't know him you would think he's getting angry.

I love dogs and their vocalness...

Jiggers is unable to greet anyone without something, anything in his mouth. He actually seems to be panicking if he can't find a toy/chew/stick/book/shoe and the very worst was a steak knife.

Yes! It's a mastiff trait! One of the reasons I love OEM's so much is that they take on human like qualitites, talking, sitting like you, they become very compassionate as they mature, the most wonderful breed!
All of my OEM's have talked to us or back at us their entire lives!
