I met someone with a Harlequin Dane this summer, people kept asking him if it was part Dalmatian. /facepalm

Sad isn't it, I've seen dogs with markings like a diary cow and people still ask if its a dalmatian * facepalm* Then again my blue was a St Bernard at one point............

I've had people ask if my previous EM was a Dane... but most people recognize Duchess to be some kind of mastiff so I never have to correct people too much. I do have a friend that just got a male harl puppy a couple weeks ago. His name is Axle & he is ADORABLE!!!

I think that this is part of the appeal of the harlequin dane. I have already decided that my next k9 running partner is going to be a dalmatian. I can just imagine some of the comments. Ignorance can be funny.

I've only met 2 Dalmatians in my life. One was mean as hell & the other was the sweetest, fattest dog ever! Yes he was very FAT. He had a thyroid problem & I believe at one point weighed over 100 lbs. He was big boned & his constantly wagging tail was lethal on the legs. What is the temperament like with Dalmatians anyway?

This page seems to explain a lot of what my research has given me.

I currently have an Irish Setter/Golden Retriever cross (50/50) but seems more 95/5.

From everything I have read the dalmatian may actually be easier to raise than Jiggers is. If I'm lucky he may start to calm down in about 3 years, currently the Energizer bunny on speed at 1.5 years old. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1351560497.535730.jpg
