Pictures of our pond redo from the summer - pic heavy

It's time to get the pond ready for winter and it's not looking nearly so pretty now. I went looking for the pictures to remind me how pretty all the front landscaping was when everything was in bloom. I thought you guys might enjoy some pictures.

After these pictures were taken I added in some scarlet Lobelia in the back and to the sides. Also some Borage, brown eyed susan's, and some marigolds for filler. I brought in all the King Tut grass (cut back) and the Elephant Ears. Supposedly they can spend the winter in the house if I keep the pots in two inches of water. I hope so. I got them for $2 each, but they're $10 each at the start of the season and I'd rather not spend that much. Also the fish. I put five goldfish in and only four made it. They're spending the winter in my kitchen because the pond is too shallow in our area for them to overwinter outside. The three orange fish are Porthos, Athos, and Aramis. The calico colored one is D'Artagnan. I'm a nerd.

That's really nice. I keep getting a visual that if I had a few drinks and went down those rock stairs I'd be IN the pond..:D

Thanks everyone! I love it. We had a nice fountain and the waterfall there before and I thought it was pretty. This? People were stopping their cars to look when it was in full bloom. Ella wasn't very happy about that.

We do quite a lot of ... um ... over-serving of beverages on the patio in the summer, lol, but so far no casualties. I don't really drink since I quit smoking so I keep a close eye on the kiddies and certain adults. I did make the mistake of leaving the huge can of fish food out once. Won't make that mistake again.

Do it! My husband thought it was a silly idea and didn't really want it, but when it was done he bragged about it to everyone. You should know that it's more expensive than you think to keep it clean. I had an awful time keeping it algae and smell free. I ended up adding a UVB light, as well as a box filter to the pump. That helped. Then I added a fountain with another filter and UVB light built in. That helped a ton. The waterfall wasn't powerful enough to really get the water moving.

Thanks for the heads up!

Thank you. I just love it. It's not very pretty right now, but I'm hopeful that my perennials will come back whenever spring decides to show up.
