I used to hate when I worked at the shelter and people were outraged at the adoption fees and expected us to just give them the animals. Dude you're paying anywhere from 90-225 for a fixed, vaccinated, felv/fiv/heart worm tested animal. That's a steal!

I paid way too large of a "rehoming" fee for Bella, especially since she really hadn't received the shots they claimed she had, and she wasn't spayed (thank God for that), micro chipped, etc. Do I regret it? Not for an instant. My son was with me when I went to get her, and he was very concerned regarding the conditions of the rescue, but after one look at my face he knew I wasn't leaving her, and he packed her up in the car...went back and had some "words" with the people there (I know my son, so I knew I didn't want to know what was said, and never asked). I have almost always paid significant prices for purebred dogs, especially boxers, but, pedigree or not, every dog deserves a good home, and I told my son it was my money and I would decide how to spend it. He is one of Bella's biggest fans now, and he has been thinking of adding a dog to his family sometime in the next year, and he told me that he and his wife talked about it and said they had decided they wanted me to choose their dog for them. I looked at him and said "Oh no, that's not happening!!". Anyway, I guess my point is that rescues cost a lot of money to run, and God bless the people involved in running them, and maybe the price I paid for Bella will help that rescue clean up their act a bit. I hope!

You should see what we had to do in the sandbox. Let's just say it involved some diesel fuel and a metal stake for stirring.

I feel for you. I go to a pirate camping trip every year, you get 1,000 pirates together for a weekend and about 20 portapotties, all boozing it up, you have to be very careful about which honey bucket you choose. We always cheer for the honey bucket cleaning crew that comes every morning. :)

Thought I would revive this thread because I have a pet peeve that is bringing my anger monkey out today.

People who dig for compliments/support .... repeatedly ...

for example: "does this make me look fat?"

or

"I'm just not sure...I know you've told me a thousand times that this is the right thing, but I'm just not sure..."

well what do you know...I feel better already just typing that out :)

Add to it people who want to to do something, but just don't come out and ask - instead they just hint around at it. (I get intentionally obtuse at that point. If you want my help you're gonna have to come out and ask for it!) ... Assuming you haven't annoyed me to the point of no return.

Currently my biggest pet peeve is the "it worked for me And I survived argument" both when it comes to pets and kids. Ten years ago we didn't care as much about secondhand smoke or rearfacing carseats but now we have that knowledge, shouldn't we use it?

Mine at the moment is Dogs nails. CUT THE DAMN NAILS ALREADY!!! It IS a big deal! It is uncomfortable/painful for the dog!!! It breaks my heart to see dogs with long nails. It is horrible!! It isn't exactly a difficult task for crying out loud!!!!

I seriously (ok, only halfway seriously, but....) considered murder, or at least assault, after my mother pulled that on me a few years ago. By the time she finally got around to telling me what her REAL problem was (which, BTW, was totally imagined and had no basis in reality other than the one tiny little fact that she saw and allowed her imagination to run with), I was screaming mad. She is now forbidden visits of any length over 3 days....

Oh god, the family across the street from me DOESN"T trim their dogs nails AT ALL. I cringe every time I see their dogs, there's no way that doesn't hurt to walk.....

I hate this! It can cause structural issues forcing the dog to be flat footed. It makes me insane when I see it.
