I would be very surprised if you have a problem in the future. Sounds like you have a well socialized dog. We have had 2-3 run-ins in the past 2 months with some poorly socialized pits/ pit mixes at the dog park with idiot owners and my dog Juno (similar age almost 11 months) will defend herself with force that I have never seen her exhibit unless provoked. She routinely plays with other well socialized dogs as small as 15lbs up to 175lbs. One thing I would recommend when walking is keep your head on a swivel and trust your instincts. Try to see the problems before they reach you and your dog. Good luck in the future.

I'm so sorry to hear about your run-in! Unfortunately though, a lot of people get pitbulls to make themselves look macho with their dogs.. The dogs end up suffering because of this and are trained very poorly. This is probably why a lot of breed bans occur because of stupid people. I'm glad that your dog is no worse for wear though! Sounds like you're going a great job with her! :)
I did have a run in with a stupid owner a few years ago.. Was living in a smaller town in an apartment and had to walk my beagle by this idiot who kept trying to provoke my dog on a daily basis with his pitbull. Its like he just stood there and loitered all day. Anyway, one day I had my hubby walking our beagle with me and this idiot tried the same thing with his poor dog. Needless to say it didn't happen again after that and it wasn't ended by dog fighting!
I have also met very many friendly and well taken care of pitbulls with responsible owners. I love every kind of dog big or small and never have any issues except for poorly trained ones due to owners being at fault.

If you are not sure what you would do in that type of situation you may want to watch a video on Leerburg.com regarding breaking up a dog fight, it's valuable info that could save your dogs life and will prevent you from possibly getting injured.

As a former Staffy owner it always saddened me to see walking weapons or 4 legged substitutes for ego. I know how GREAT the breed is. Glad all is well. Hoping the pit gets training or better owners.

Someone once said "there is no such thing as bad dogs, just bad owners". Sounds like Honor did the right thing and finished what was started. Kudos to the both of you!

thanks musicdeb. So far just in vet bills with shots from puppy, visits, mis diagnosed vet visits leading to us going to other vets, fighting mange, than fighting mange again and now parvo we have 8000 invested in her GOODNIGHT I never knew Corso were so expensive. LOL I think God gave us to her knowing she was gonna have issues and somebody else maybe wouldnt have been able to deal/ pay for all of these damn visits. Thank god the wife and I are financially set :)

What did the kids do after honor beat their steroided pit?

I had a pit, while I was living with my parents, they still have him as they didn't want to let him go. The kindest dog in the world, lives with a cat and a Maltese. He wouldn't hurt a fly, I brought Abel to meet him not too long ago and even while Abel was being bad, Kai (pitbull) remained calm and let Abel jump all over him.

I hate hearing about 'bad' pitbulls, as most dog lovers actually know its not the dog/breed its the owner. I'm glad your dog is ok. I really would like to hear how the aftermath went... Stupid punks...

I've never met a bad pit. When I volunteered at the shelter, every pit bull I worked with were awesome pups. Unfortunately, most of them were PTS because they were not adopted. Arlington animal shelter euthanized every pit that comes in that is older than 6 months old. :( :(

Well not much was said. I think they were just as freaked as I was. The "thugs" remained for the most part silent. As Honor and I wlaked away I could see them talking amongst themselves. Im sure if I had a small dog or a dog that didnt do what Honor did to their Pit they would have tried letting it go further. But like I said before I could see the pride was hurt on the faces of these two bums as we continued down the street. I have seen the kid that wasnt holding the dog lead that I said was smoking a cigerette a few times in the last week. He never says anything just stands there looking all dopppy doing whatever thugs do. Whats even scarier though as the pit was really hurt on the nose, REALLY HURT and I could tell it wanted more. If I wouldnt have stopped this no telling what Honor would have done and major law suit on my hands, or maybe not. I can tell you this though..........some people say that a Cane Corso is not a fighting dog that it was bred for gaurding and that the whole argument of it being a lion destroyer this and that and how old the breed dates back to fighting this and that, well I trully seen what a pure "bad boy" pit bull with the size of Arnold schwarzneger"s body and the head of a bear can TRY to do against a ten month old Cane Corso and it didnt end well for the pit. Scariest situation I have ever been in. Im still upset at all of this that we have to constantly be on our gaurd but its ok. I love my Honor girl no matter how she turns out and at the moment she seems 100% ok in the head :)
