Cow ears are good too. They are huge and lasts um...15 - 20 minutes and you can also buy trachea tubes and stuff it with like kong stuffing and then freeze it. I haven't tried that yet, but I will once those moo-tubes come in.

But yeah, give antlers that are very thick. I only give my dogs ones that are 2-3 inches thick on both ends.

Calvin is a big chewer and what lasts are the splint antler ( better than the whole as they get the marrow easier). The fake wood sticks. And the best to me is frozen femur bones with marrow in them. They can get expensive but a good butcher may flash freeze and save for you. Just have to watch the marrow doesn't spoil and make them sick. I take them up after a4 hours, but a frozen one lasts a while. After they finish the marrow I boil the bone to clean and I take his regular dry food mix with hot water make a mush ..you can mix with dried lamb (Stella's) or mix peanut butter with mash then stuff and freeze. If I feel like I am going to be late for his dinner yet it's too early to feed and I'll give him his bone filled with the dry food mash..he gets his meal and has fun working for it. I always have these bones in the freezer when I need him to be busy. I also stuff a kong with peanut butter and freeze. Hope this helps.

One other thing I've found that works well and actually lasts is the Bionic dog toy products. Not the frisbee, but the throwing stick type ones really seem to last a long time. Lucia chews on hers all the time and it really only frays up the ends a little bit.

I bought a water buffalo antler yesterday, a lot of them are hollowed out, but the one I found wasn't. Jake chewed it for hours last night, it doesn't splinter, it will wear down but seems to be lasting quite well. He absolutely loves it!

I bought my dogs waterbuffalo horns (antlers?) and they are all super super heavy duty chewers. Titan will turn a nylabone into a shank in a matter of minutes. The waterbuffalo horns lasted me all last summer and Titan still will go find it and bring it to the deck to chew on it. They smell bad though, and because they are hollow it makes for a lot of gross slobber but they dont seem to splinter at all. But they seem to love them and they have been to most durable/lasting thing I've found.

where did you buy it from? All the ones I have seen are hollow and when Zoe had one she crunched the end easily and it had quite sharp pieces but she loved the darn thing, I still threw it out!

I got it at Pet Value (I don't know if you have that store down in the states). All of the horns were hollowed out except this one, I think it wasn't hollowed out because it was thinner than the other ones and if they tried to hollow it out there'd be nothing left of it. I'm going to try to find another one to have on hand for when he wears this one out.
