I have experienced a lot of breeders in NC, SC and GA that require you complete an application that includes your life history! Many indicated that they did not sell to first time owners, some require a site visit after a certain amount of time in the contract. I understand both sides of the issue. Myself, if I were the breeder I too would be very particular about selecting owners for my pups because I would want the best for them and I understand how difficult owning a giant breed can be. This does not mean that first time owners are all unfit, just that some are not prepared. Everyone is at one time or another a first time owner, even the breeders.
