  • Welcome back!

We decided to spruce things up and fix some things under the hood. If you notice any issues, feel free to contact us as we're sure there are a few things here or there that we might have missed in our upgrade.

New puppy pictures.

The breeder is calling her Athena. We'll probably just keep that because we are horrible at naming pets. It always takes us weeks to come up with something.

And yes, we are all excited but I keep thinking I am forgetting to get or do something before we pick her up. I'm also super paranoid about doing something wrong and ruining her for life. It's like some big adventure that comes with a giant bucket of responsibility.

and because you care so deeply and want to do everything right by her you will be fine, just fine. we are all here for you and I am sure I am safe when I speak for Ruth in saying if you need breed specific help we would be more than happy to do what we can.

We were cruising all the big pet stores yesterday looking at fish tanks (because we need more pets o_O) and everybody and their uncle had their dogs in the stores. I spent a lot of time thinking "I hope my dog doesn't do that."

Every training book or video I look at uses food rewards but I keep reading that TM's don't care about food or toys. I'm thinking of using money. :p

They kinda respond to food as pups. But still not to the degree that most other dogs do. Get used to being told that you're using the wrong kind of bait, cause OBVIOUSLY something else will get their attention.....

hahaha! food can work, honestly it can. Moo doesnt do toys at all but her brother loves them. praise worked best for me but food can work. just make sure you keep your training treats for training only and nothing else. be it chicken or cheese or whatever, dont let them get bored is the key.

i hear ya!! last week at ring craft some woman tried to get me to clicker train Moo...no matter how many times I told her she is obedience trained she thought i was clearly doing something wrong. No lady this is a primative breed, not a flat coated retreiver and she is not, not, not going to do something for the click if she doesnt want to, plain and simple. Now GO AWAY and leave me alone.

Yup, Apollo responds to food when he wants to. We keep a couple packages of oddball treats for working on different things. Apollo could care less about toys. Praise works, mostly lol. We combine things, and go with what works today basically.
