Good looking dog! Lucky to have family to help import dog from country of origin. What is his temperament like and where are you located?

Welcome Bhote :)
Don't hesitate to post more pics :)

How old was he when you got him?

I'm curious about him-I had read & watched a documentary video about how there are areas around there with researchers that are trying to preserve the breed-the link to that video is on here somewhere.
Is your family/friends/breeder involved with that program? I know it's a stretch, but figured I'd ask, since your family is from the region.

He is gorgeous!

LOL at the pics--another TM claims a sofa!!!
Mine is sure I bought this sofa just for her (and admittedly, I did, sort of).
Had to get a sofa that we both could fit on along with the cats. After a walk she comes through the front door & hops onto the sofa like she's had the hardest day ever!

So what's Bhote's temperament like?

Tessa is soft, but I have reinforced every submissive behavior since she was 11 weeks old & socialized her every day rain or shine.

She is only 1/2 TM, but I was never planning on any TM, she was a rescue & quite a stubborn pup. I'd have been lost without this forum.

She was around 8-10 months where I think I lost my last remaining sanity & just gave up trying to 'train' her like a regular dog...and by some weird twist of fate she started doing what I wanted her to do lol.
TM's are the strangest creatures I've ever experienced in the dog world.
Tessa is now 1 1/2+ yrs & is still the most unshakeable dog I've ever had & is still a mystery to me.

Hi, he looks lovely. What is he called?
oh i also wanted to mention another reason why we call him bhote is because these dogs arent called Tibetan mastiffs in nepal, there called bhote kukurs, bhote is what we call the people of tibet and kukur meaning dog, kinda translates to it, so we just decided him to call him bhote lol

like most Tibetan mastiffs born in tibet/nepal he is very territorial, even with early socialization and trainers. its just the way that they were bred there, but its only when he is on his territory, if i take him out of his property, say to a petstore or vet, or just a walk, he just doesn't care about others, if people offer him treats he doesnt eat it, only from the family hands, and if you come pet him, he will just ignore you. but with the family omg he is a teddy bear somtimes i dont even use a pillow to sleep cus i have him lol
