New gadget for playing with dogs remotely

I work in the tech industry so I am huge on "smart" devices making my personal life easier and I always keep an eye out for the newest things being developed. Today I discovered "PlayDate". This is a dog toy that you can operate from your smart phone. It has a two way microphone so your dog can hear you and vice versa. It also has a camera. It's basically a ball with all these smart things in it that lets you interact with your dog while you are at work. But... I have serious doubts about whether such an item could survive my dog. It claims to be durable for the most active dogs... that's what they say. I have heard such claims before. And they are never accurate. Here is a link to the thing... What do you think? Cool or broken within five minutes?PlayDate: Play with your pet dog or cat. Anytime. Anywhere.

That and the view they are showing is from another camera if I'm understanding it correctly. The view from the camera in the toy will be essentially unusable. it reminds me of one of those hard plastic wobble balls that has a motor and a weight in it that keeps it rolling in all directions.

Not sure I want them to chew something that has my voice in it - it must be very confusing for the poor dog. Beside it, I don't want them to swallow cameras, microphones and stuff. Pretty sure I'd hear myself talking from Sophia butt...

teodora - lol! Yes I have serious doubts as to how long this gadget would survive. Too bad though because it is a neat concept. Now should they ever test it on a few heavy chewing mastiffs then I might be tempted. :)

I can just see the poor pup know, chasing his tail trying to find out where mommy's voice is coming from. LOL!!!

It does look like it's designed for a smaller dog... looks tennis ball sized, which is nearly swallowable around here. It would need to be at least a 10" ball for us. That's the size of Denna's indestructiball... and even then... I wouldn't let Denna have it in the house - she squirts that indestructiball around the yard and it really hits stuff hard (my ankle bones cringe every time I hear her play with that thing).
